You need to say more. Like why? Like what lenses do you shoot? Like what subjects do you shoot? Like what format JPEG / RAW do you shoot? Like how much do you want to spend? Like why do you have GAS?

The UHH community is mostly populated with a bunch of retirees with more time and money than sense. Keeping up with this bunch of Joneses is a fool's errand. If you let the UHH community spend your money, nothing you have will ever be good enough to their standards.

Digital cameras are plenty good enough now, especially anything released since the resolution standard reached 24MP across the industry. You should be worrying about what you can do with your camera, not whatever newest model anyone else is bragging about. Unless your 24MP DX camera is physically broken, it's more likely than not you have not exhausted all the capabilities and possibilities of this model.

Thanx,
You are right, I have 25000 shutter count now, and the d7200 has been a good camara,
there is a lot of life in it ,
whatever my reason for upgrading is, just curious on what next upgrade should be,

Your advice is dead on. Having said that it must be a terrible burden to be the smartest person in the room. You accusing someone of bragging is truly the pot calling the kettle black.

I replaced my D5300 with a D750 when Nikon cut the price of the D750 kit when they released the D780. The main advantage is low light performance, especially shadow areas. The downside is the D750 is heavier, I call it a tank. But it does NOT have a motor for manual lenses like your D7200. But there is the rangefinder option for manual focusing.

This is an excellent comment and I hesitate to tell someone else what to do when the options are so personal. Almost two years ago I moved from the 7200 to the Z5. I wanted to move from DX to FX. The Z5 gave me everything I thought I needed and instead of spending more on the body I have invested in three S quality lenses. Very happy with my choices. Whether that would be the right choice for this poster is not for me to say.

A D850 seems to be a good one to go with, my initial thoughts are to go that route,
I do a variety of photos, from nature to nudes,
I like to closeup photos and some product photo's

It should be what you want it to be.

I had a D7200 I really liked, but it started to suffer problems that cost me $$ to send back to Nikon for repairs. I finally got to the point where I couldn't trust it anymore, and traded it in and upgraded to a D7500. Same lenses (a significant factor), faster processor, better ISO handling, slightly smaller and lighter, and the only thing I lost was a tiny bit of megapixels (21 vs 24) and max resolution. The improvements were a major plus for me, and I'm quite happy with the upgrade.

Here is an in-depth comparison of the two, if you're interested:

gdbrede please give Paul's thoughts here some serious consideration...
He's brutally honest about the majority of members on UHH... i.e. aging children...

I shoot the Nikon D7200 on commercial gigs and although it has an "enthusiast" user interface the D7200's sensor remains at the top of Nikon's DX offerings... DxOmark rates it the best of the best.

With dual Card Slots it is very capable of commercial assignments...
And with the MB-D15 grip it is transformed into "Pro" ergonomics...
Endowed with Nikon's Expeed 4 processor it is now commanding higher prices on mpb over the Nikon D800 (Expeed 3)
In (like new) condition you'll pay over well over what mpb is asking for a D800 (in same condition).

Like Paul said, virtually no compelling reason to upgrade...
Unless you are primarily interested in BIF or Action Sports then the Nikon D500 is more germane...
The D7200 truly excels in Portraiture, Fashion, Lifestyle and Landscape..

Please enjoy your amazing D7200, and your photographic journey gdbrede

DxOMark rates the D7200 superior in Nikon's APS-C Semi-Pro Class (I concur with DxOmark after testing the D500 against the D7200 for Portraiture)

When you change to a full frame camera, you could generate the problem of needing full-frame lenses. I asked about what lenses you have and what is your budget. Have you accounted for lenses along with a change in sensor format? You may not like the questions nor tone, but they were all real and relevant. Just ask anyone who didn't account for needing new lenses too ...

25,000 on a shutter rated to 150,000 is barely used at all.
