These are terrific pictures. I especially like the one where the sea lion has gone under water. Perfect photo; great clarity, etc.!

Thanks, The underwater was done with a GoPro. Probably the easyest, simplest and cheapest way to get decent underwater shots. the other shots were done with either and A1 or A9. It was very dusty on certain islands so I opted to have 2 bodies with differing focal lenghts to carry around.

Good morning. I am headed to the Galapagos and mainland Ecuador in a few weeks and was curious what lenses you used. I have an 18-300 and was wondering if I might need the 150-600, as well. Nice shots. Thanks for posting.

,
I took several lenses but ended up only using 2 of them. A 24 -70 f2.8 and a 100 - 400 f4.5. The animals get fairly close so 600mm might be overkill. Several times the animals came right up to the lens and I had to back away.
I was on a week long naturalist cruise that consisted of 2 outings a day by Zodiac craft. I would have to say all of the shooting was run and gun type while moving, I was either on a zodiac, walking or ship. I shot a lot at high ISO's and high Shutter speeds to counter act camera shake from taking shots from an unsteady platform, so the faster the lens the better. If I had to do it over I think I could have gotten by with a 24 - 70 f2.8 and a 70 -200 f2.8 and a teleconverter. I never used a tripod, not enough time.
I also did not go on a photography tour so I never had to shoot around other photographers. The only other advice would be to befriend the lead naturalist and bring a Go Pro, I still have yet to go though the video a pull shots but the underwater shots are decent. It was the lowest cost/simplest option to do underwater shots.

Great shots, especially those of the amphibians

Amphibians went the way of the Goat on the Galapagos, not even as much as a tadpole on the islands.

A few more shots from my trip earlier this month. Giant Tortoise, Crab and a Penguin. I haven't gotten to the Flamingos yet but it's just a mater of time.

Great pix. By playful I hope you meant with each other. You shouldn't touch them or approach them too closely. I have no idea of the rules in the Galapagos. But where I live in California we have Seals, Sea Lions, and Elephant Seals. Not only is it illegal to bother them, but the Sea Lions may look cuddly but they are aggressive and the huge Elephant Seals can end you if angered.

Nope, they were playful with humans. The humans interaction with wildlife is very different than anywhere else, and wildlife is better protected. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, The rule in the Galapagos is 6 feet between humans and wild life, unless approached. Sea Lions are not aggressive because they are not hunted or bothered by humans. There is always a naturalist present whether in the water or on land. I had birds land on me, Iguanas brush up against me, nudged by sea lions and followed by a hawk. The animals are very curious.
