4th set of Galapagos shots. I took a little over 1.5 Terabytes worth of material while in the Galapagos earlier in the month so I'll probably be posting a lot more in the new year.
The lizard looks like he's planning something devious.

Amphibians went the way of the Goat on the Galapagos, not even as much as a tadpole on the islands.
Awesome images Larry. We want more in 2024!

Good morning. I am headed to the Galapagos and mainland Ecuador in a few weeks and was curious what lenses you used. I have an 18-300 and was wondering if I might need the 150-600, as well. Nice shots. Thanks for posting.

,
I took several lenses but ended up only using 2 of them. A 24 -70 f2.8 and a 100 - 400 f4.5. The animals get fairly close so 600mm might be overkill. Several times the animals came right up to the lens and I had to back away.
I was on a week long naturalist cruise that consisted of 2 outings a day by Zodiac craft. I would have to say all of the shooting was run and gun type while moving, I was either on a zodiac, walking or ship. I shot a lot at high ISO's and high Shutter speeds to counter act camera shake from taking shots from an unsteady platform, so the faster the lens the better. If I had to do it over I think I could have gotten by with a 24 - 70 f2.8 and a 70 -200 f2.8 and a teleconverter. I never used a tripod, not enough time.
I also did not go on a photography tour so I never had to shoot around other photographers. The only other advice would be to befriend the lead naturalist and bring a Go Pro, I still have yet to go though the video a pull shots but the underwater shots are decent. It was the lowest cost/simplest option to do underwater shots.
