Does anyone know if it is possible to stack images to reduce noise when using PSE? I've seen it done in PS but I have been unable to find anything using the process for PSE.

All three of these images were taken at the same shutter speed, ISO and aperture. The camera was tripod mounted.

I use a Canon T3i with a EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS STM zoom.

The images seem very noisy to me but I do not know what else I can do the control the problem.

The moderate crop for sense of place. I like the flags and the sign, even if difficult to read. The cut-off door won't be noticed by anyone but a photographer :)

I'm leaning towards the moderate crop. I believe that it gives a pretty good view of the truck but the inclusion of the sign and flag provide some balance, extra interest and a sense of space.

Thanks for your input.

The web site will identify the station. I would go with the tighter crop because it draws your attention right to the truck. The building doesn't seem that important to me because it doesn't look like a typical fire house, it could be any building. and the sign is difficult to read.

Thanks for your reply.

Since you say you want to show the engines - then, SHOW THEM . . . the tight crop.

On the other hand, IF you really want to show the fire department, fire station, fire house - use the moderate crop.

IMHO, of course

Oh boy! Three replies and one for each. lol This may not be as easy as I thought. lol Thanks for your reply.

I would go somewhere between 1 & 2. I agree with Bob, but don't like the far garage door cut off.

Thanks for your opinion Bill. One of my original reasons for the crop was to minimize the road in front of the station. It is a very large area of dead space that contributes little to the image. I will consider revising the crop and making it a little less tight.

The moderate one. It shows a lot of detail, more so than the first one. The inclusion of the surroundings locates the fire engine, unlike the last image, which has it rather isolated. One has to guess at what the building is, in the background.

Thanks for your opinion Bob.

Over the weekend I took a number of pictures of the fire trucks from a local volunteer Rural Fire Department (RFD).

The original intent was to create a portfolio of the engines to be used in a future web site. Just the same it seems to me that a story can and should be told with each image when possible.

I am only concerned with composition. Nothing has been done in post other than creating jpgs so I have not included originals.

So! If you are only doing one image per engine which one of the three presented would you utilize?

I'm jealous. lol VERY nice shot. It was my understanding that some lenses lost focus near their maximum focal length. Much left to learn.

I did not see reference to shooting at the max range on a telephoto. While I am just a novice I do recall a number of posts suggesting that the max sweet spot on a tele is often just below the max tele setting. Maybe you should try shooting two shots. Or possibly use live view to determine if your lens focuses best at 700mm, 725mm or some other focal length just below 750mm.

I have Lightroom v6 and recently purchased Elements 14 and I use them both.

At my age I guess I am just having trouble with the subscription process.

What I dislike most about it is that you never become vested. You will have to pay Adobe for as long as you live. Should you decide to stop the subscription then I believe PS will go dead and in LR you will only have access to the search, retrieval and printing processes.

The reason I bought PSE is because it seems to me that this is the program that Adobe will continue to upgrade and make available for the public and non-professional photographers. To upgrade or not remains my decision based on value & economics.

I do not believe you would be disappointed with either arrangement. They are all the best of the best.

Good luck.

Silvermeteor where do I get the shortcuts?

Here are a couple of links for shortcut links.

http://www.chelles-creations.com/2012/photoshop-pse-shortcuts-card/

http://darksideofthelens.com/2008/08/photoshop-elements-keyboard-shortcuts/

I think there is a "shortcut" key to a list of shortcuts within the program but I can't remember it. lol
