Hello,

In my Pictures folder in Windows 7 I have picture folders by date that have 3 different formats depending on how I imported them
Example:
2015 4 26
2015-4-26
2015_4_26
I would like to try and get these all with the same date format.
Any thoughts on an easy fix
Thanks!

You would benefit from spending an afternoon with a mentor.

And where would be a good place to find a mentor? My local camera store offers classes including field trips- maybe I should start there?

Thanks RT

So I'm trying to get better at this photography thing and I think I'm overthinking it :0 Last weekend I was taking informal pictures at a friends childs baptism and my pictures are worse than ever. Shooting with a rented lens at 2.8 inside the church I was missing things or not focusing on the right things( using center focus) At the post event reception my DOF was all wrong.
Worse than ever even when I was shooting in auto mode a while back I was getting better shots.
I think I'm trying too many things at once - shooting wide open, using center focus etc

I think I just need to shoot more and not do so much analysis paralysis...
JUst venting

Hello,

Took some shots at kids football this weekend The perfect storm as far as lack of equipment knowledge- Using a camera I've only had a couple of months(Canon 70D from old 30D) and trying a Canon 70-200 2.8 for the first time that I rented
Background on a lot of them were very light- focusing on dark uniforms?

Questions- where to focus? Used the middle block for focus- or should I use center point
Metering- what to use- spot, partial?

THanks!!

So a dumb question as I am a newbie also. How are you focusing? I'm assuming you are autofocusing but on what? I've read you should single point focus on the player because if you are "default focusing then some things that you want= the player- may be out of focus

As a police crime scene photographer, friends thought I could shoot a wedding with the pros. My protests fell on deaf ears and against my better judgement I did it...twice. UGH!!
Unless the Bride and Groom want to lie down and have chalk drawn around them, I DO NOT DO WEDDINGS, or reunions, or any such event. If you die, call me and I will give you my best. Otherwise, call a pro!

This is fricking hilarious- almost fell out of my chair laughing

To add to this even though my rental camera came with a manual I purposefully tried to figure out the controls without the manual to see how intuitive they were(or how dumb/smart I am :) )
It wasn't too bad to figure out so I'm sure I could get used to it quickly- just more worried about the need for 2 hands/multiple fingers to hold down buttons

Sorry if I offended anyone by not posting feedback and I'm ok with a good ol' thread hijacking. I appreciate all of the input and its given me lots to think about.
My real job and my camera searching job are sucking the life out of me.
That being said I went to my local camera store and did a touchy feely with Nikon and Sony as I am familiar with the Canon. I rented a Nikon 610 for a couple of days to play with it and see about the controls. The controls were a little tough. In Canon world I can do a lot of things one handed as I can press a function button once- ISO for instance- and make adjustments while not holding the button down- that's a plus for me- Any way around that on a Nikon?Does that offset any perceived IQ? The grip didn't feel as good on a Nikon but not something I couldn't get used to
As of now I'm off of the FF bandwagon due to pricing- I'd rather out more money into glass. So going back and forth between Canon and Nikon at this point(70D vs 7100) looking at lenses for both- pricing and type between each brand as I look at the overall system. Still debating whether to consider my 30D "dead" or incorporate it into what I'm doing

THanks again all

You people are killing me! -My first post on this informative site
I WANT to upgrade my Canon 30D. Have taken some decent pictures with the kit lens(18-55) as the only lens but now want to make photography a serious hobby. So major analysis paralysis after doing lots of reading on here and other sites.
My thoughts so far,,,,and by the way want to buy by this weekend as Canon has some rebates IF I go Canon.
So the choices so far are Canon 70D, Canon 6D, maybe even Nikon 7100 or 610(have a flavor of Canon camera for over thirty years- causing me to be a little shaky :) )
Of course your going to ask me what I'm going to shoot- Answer a little of everything. Most of my thousands of pix are people at parties, travel photos, informal event photos- weddings, proms. I'd like to play around with sports photography as there are lots of kids in the 'hood who play sports
Here is what my reading is telling me- While I'd like to plunge into a full frame budget is an issue. On the Canon side the 6D probably isn't best for sports- low FPS, and I need to see the focusing in action.
Concerned about Nikon on 2 fronts- one quality issues on 610- dust on sensor? and then concerned with how people look vs Canon- a bit "cooler", not as warm?
Going to camera store today to touch and feel and maybe rent. Again too much reading, not enough doing.
Gut lean right now is 70D but with an EF lens in case I go FF in future. Do need to touch, play with Nikon.
Or punt, keep the 30D and get better glass plus off camera flash. Or....
I apologize for my on-line brainstorming- losing sleep over-analyzing. Any thoughts would be appreciated
