What happens to my images if I cancel my $9.99 going to Adobe every month?

Nothing happens to your images if you are using Lightroom Classic, your images are on your computer.

Twice in the past few months, the oil burner wouldn't turn on. Since I heat with wood, it wasn't a big deal, but I like having hot water. The oil burner is in its own little room in what used to be the garage. The former garage is now the TV/Computer room. I have a table set up next to the oil burner door, and on that table, I have two coffee makers, battery chargers, and other stuff. Getting into the boiler room is a big deal because it involves moving lots of things.

As you oil burner people know, there is a red button on the oil burner. If it doesn't start, you push that button, and it should start. That's what I did the last two times it wasn't working, but I had to move the table and everything on it. I've been thinking about an alternative method.

Since the button is oriented horizontally, it gets pressed straight down. A weight on a string could do that with me outside the room. Maybe a lever system consisting of a couple of sticks could push the button without me having to remove the table and everything on it. It's something to think about. First, I'll have to see how many pounds/ounces of force are required to press that button. That will be a starting point. Maybe I could use an electric solenoid. If only Rube Goldberg were still alive. He'd love a project like this.

If any of you would like to offer suggestions, I'd be glad to hear them.

Spend some of your money and get the oil burner repaired, it obviously has an issue to be tripping the safety switch. Or you can keep resetting the safety and eventually you will be able to replace all of your office/photography equipment because it all was destroyed in the fire.

So I've got a shoot planned for September and was thinking about maybe renting a couple of Canon L mount lenses. Has anyone here done something similar and what was the expectation vs reality? Which company did you rent from and would you rent from them again?

I second this recommendation, I have rented from them also and the process couldn’t be easier.

Tamron 70-200mm f2.8 G2 lens for sale. Comes with original box. Also included is a brand new JJC soft case for the lens. I have not used this lens much at all, maybe 100 shots. it just doesn't fit my style of shooting. I shoot mostly wildlife and BIF along with wide angle scenic photos. Asking $875.00 plus shipping (to be determined when accepting offer) or would entertain a trade for a Nikon P1000 camera. This lens has been kept in smoke free home in a padded drawer. Message me with any questions.

Is there a much noticeable difference between Topaz denoise/sharpening Vs what can be done in Lightroom? Ie… is it worth the $$ for the results?

You will end up completely confused by the pro and con remarks on here. Best advice is to download Topaz denoise Ai and sharpen Ai for the free trial period and give them a test drive. My opinion is they are definitely worth the price, but you decide for yourself.

Another example, toilet paper. Narrower rolls, less sheets per roll, same or higher price.

Yes, don’t buy western digital. And it needs to be thunderbolt 4, not USB-c. OWC has a thunderbolt case for $79 then you put your own SSD chip in it.

I’m curious as to why you say “Don’t buy Western Digital” . Want to see if you experienced the same issues as I did. I have always used WD external HDD’s with no issue. I have an iMac and use the 4 port usb hub that clips onto the lower edge of the iMac. I recently purchased two 3tb portable HDD’s and I cannot backup my photos to the drive using the above mentioned USB hub, it disconnects when the backup starts. I contacted WD tech support regarding the issue and was told they don’t recommend using a USB hub. My previous 2tb WD portable drives work with the hub but not the 3tb drives. They told me that I have to plug directly into the USB port on the rear of my iMac. This means that when I backup to the portables,I have to unplug the usb hub and plug the 3tb portables into the iMac port. Very inconvenient to say the least.

I noted, starting yesterday, that Sharpen, when invoked moves my screens around. No recent downloads/upgrades to Sharpen I use a MacBook Pro and a 27" LG external monitor. I run Lightroom on the laptop and Photoshop, where I do any extensive work on the larger monitor. If Sharpen is to be used, I invoke it in Photoshop. When I open it, Lightroom screen moves to the larger display. It will not move back. I must close it and reopen it to get it back into the correct position. Maddening when moving through a large number of images.

I have reported this to Topaz-no answer as yet.

Anyone experiencing this? Any solutions?

I’m using a Mac desktop running the latest version/updates and am not experiencing any issue like you are explaining. Have you tried re-starting your Mac? My Mac is left on but goes to sleep when not using, I also have it set to restart every Sunday night. No issues so far.

Okay, this is a puzzlement. Using Lightroom classic v11.3, updated 2 days ago.

This morning I went out and took some shots, imported them in LR and did a little editing with Luminar Flex (my utility of choice) - same as I have been doing for months. While shooting, I also used an app called GPS Tracks on my iPhone to record my locations - same as I have done for years ever since learning about it from one of the nice folks here.

Moments ago, I started up LR again (after quitting it without incident before lunch) and added the GPS coordinates from the file I exported from GPS Tracks - as I have been doing for a couple of years. No problems.

But now, here's the thing: now I cannot perform any external edits with any of the tools - note the screenshot attached - everything is greyed out for some reason. SO then I selected a few I don't want to delete them, and for the first time ever, I do not see the option to delete from disk, only remove from LR. So, again, WHAT??!!

Has anyone who took this latest update from Adobe had this problem perchance? I remember they introduced a bug a few updates ago where if you went to the Maps module after having imported anything, LR would just quit unexpectedly. But they did fix that an update release or two ago...and while I have previously successfully imported and then directly added GPS coordinates, as it happens this time I quite LR before lunch and after returning started it up and did the GPS stuff - then returned to the Develop module to continue the editing.

So -again - anyone experience this recently?

Oh, I'm running Mac Monterey 12.3.1 on an M1 MacBook Pro (13")

Okay - TIA to anyone who has any notion...
