Where did you get that idea? The idea that you have to store the finished product on their site? That's total nonsense, doesn't exist!

Just my ignorance.

GIMP - but has a menu learning curve.
Light Zone - Very nicely done.
Dark Table - another nice program
Fast Stone - another nice one.
If you use Mac, Phocus is pretty nice.

Not only are the above free, but they also include, at no extra charge, a learning curve.

You're mistaken about Adobe and the Creative Cloud, already noted.

Any modern operating system on your computer can read the CF card and copy the files onto the hard drive of your equipment.

Depending on your camera type, you might even have software that came with the camera to edit the image files. You can provide more details and / or investigate on your own.

Thank you for your information and advice. It's very helpful. Didn't know about storing the finished pictures.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a program to download images from a CF card? I do not want to use Adobe Photoshop CC, so I need a similar program where I can download photos and store them in folders on my computer. Then a program to retrieve them for processing. I don't like the idea of Adobe Photoshop where you have to rent the program and then store the finished pictures on their site.

I've been in the IT business for 30+ years and as I have posted before starting with Windows 7 there is a backup program that is part of Windows that has the ability to create an image backup of your entire hard drive. You need a dedicated external hard drive for this, but you can recover your entire system with this kind of backup or use it to migrate to a larger drive. You should run this backup at least once a month. In addition you should utilize an off site (cloud based) backup for all of your data folders and files that runs at least once a day. That way you can recover by restoring the image backup and then restore your latest data backup and get back to whee you were. Your IT tech shoudl be able to help you get all of this setup once you're back up and running.

Acronis is a backup program, I use it. But it also has a clone function to transfer programs, apps and all to another hard drive.
PC Mover is a cloning program that moves things to a new computer and interfaces with the new components.

Thank you very much for your answer.

If you registered your software with Adobe, you had to create an Adobe user ID. Log into your account and search for the purchased/registered software page. I remember you have to look for it, since it is buried in some menu or other. You should be able to redownload your CS6.

Thank you very much for taking your time to help me. I'll look for my registration.

I think your right Bill. I will try it and let you know. First, I will have the tech arrange my download backup files and see what comes out. He will do the download tomorrow. I'll let you know how it comes out.

Many thanks for all your help and suggestions.

If they are doing a clone of the old computer's hard drive (something like Acronis or PC Mover) then all your programs should come along for the ride.

Are Acronis and PC Mover backup programs? Have you used them? Do you know of their reliability?
Thank you for your response.

My backup is Mozy Home. They sent me a backup drive that is yet to be downloaded. Not sure if the programs will come along or not. The backup drive will be downloaded tomorrow by my computer tech.

Not yet. Do they have a phone number or do I have to used their site somehow? Someone else downloaded the program for me originally, so I'm not too familiar with their site.
