Any chance you still have the link?
I don't.

Thanks for looking. I put it in the signature line. But it is - http://www.kasnick.com

Again Thanks for looking and commenting. This is all a learning experience.

Seems to be a bit odd to have a web page that one cannot refer friends to. So, why have it at all unless you are under the witness protection program.

I don't understand your comment. How would you refer friends other than sending them an email inviting them to look. Thanks for your comment...

In January, Adobe Flash stopped working on my website, so I was forced to recreate it all over again. I had tried to use the commercial photo display sites, but that was not very good for me.

So, I downloaded WordPress and then Elementor Pro (cost $50) and off I went. Ha! Stumbling all over the place...

But I persevered for over a month and now I can throw a new page up, write a little blurb about that page, and populate it with 15 or 20 photos and post it.

It populates the menu automatically. Now I have a dozen countries (and some cities) of my travels, and next I am putting up about 25 National Parks and Monuments. Each will have about 20 photos.

Then I move on to cruises and other types of travel such as in both of the motorhomes I have had in the past 15 years. I expect to have about 2 thousand photos in the end, just for enjoyment.

I would be interested in comments of what you all might think. The web site is on my profile, and I am not putting a link here or I will get in trouble with admin for posting links.

Thanks,

Dick

Thanks for everyone chiming in on my last topic. Sorry I couldn’t answer everyone individually.

I had another challenge recently.

I shot a real quick wedding (due to Covid). There were only a few shots of a quick ceremony.

The bride didn’t like the photos.

You see, the place was not well lit and my camera does not handle noise well so I used an 85 mm 1.4 lens at 1.4 but not for every shot just most of the shots.

I was creative about it showing the groom in focus with the bride out of focus in the background. Also shots like the bride holding out the bouquet with the flowers in focus and her out of focus. The bokeh was very nice. There were several shots with a different lens where everything was much more in focus.

She was upset because the pictures were “blurry and out of focus”. What I suddenly realized was that she was very left-brained so to speak and for her everything had to be in focus or it was a bad picture.

What do you do with people who don’t understand art and things like bokeh. My website shows plenty of shots with bokeh. But I’ve run into people who don’t understand things like soft focus and creative shots showing things like just the back of the dress or just their hands holding or his face cut off showing just his chin with her head leaning on his shoulder out of focus. Stuff like that.

I did not get a chance to sit down with the bride and groom and get a feel for them because he called me at the last minute and there was no time. I had served him before by photographing everyone in his office. He’s a great guy.

He liked the bokeh but she did not. She saw my website so she got a feel for my style.

I was really nervous because he is a lawyer. But he is the nicest guy in the world and he said he understood that it was a difference in artistic interpretation.

I remember another left brained person like that one time I fully decorated my studio and it was beautiful and I asked one of my clients how she liked it and everything was beautiful and she looked around and she said one of the ceiling tiles was out of place and that was her whole impression of everything. That was her comment about how beautiful the studio looked.

Left brained people?
Thanks for everyone chiming in on my last topic. S... (show quote)

I remember once talking to a pro wedding photographer in Nashville. He said, "I shoot some shots for the client, and some shots for me." So, did you shoot for you or the client?

The earplugs are also free. Brand new. I already have apple airpods and bose headphones, so really don't need these.

Paypal accepted. Shipping for both is $10.00. Shipping for either one is $10.00 each. Msg me for my email to pay by paypal.

Both taken. (as soon as the ice melts and I get out to ship!)

After being encouraged by all the good comments I received for showing off my lady I post four more pictures. What makes her easy to photograph is that she has good facial symmetry.

Some people have a radiance about them. Your wife has it. Very nice wife and photos. Remember "Happy Wife, Happy Life!"

The OP got 18 emails from them, so it would seem you can get ahold of them. And I have it and have never had a problem. So, I recommend them.

Took the snowmobiles up along the Hungry Horse Reservoir on Friday. As you can see from the 1st photo - we went a little over 40 miles then turned around. Day started out foggy but ended up with blue skies!

Was a fun day for everyone.

Thanks for taking us along. Great idea of what it takes for fun up there. Snowmobile, warm clothes, extra gas and a carbine for the critters.

For all of the mirrorless fans who think it's not a real camera if it has a mirror (nudge nudge, Paul) , or one is not a real photographer if their camera has a mirror. Well, here's two of my mirrorless cameras that I've used since before mirrorless became a thing.

Disclaimer-The Leica does have a small mirror used only for focusing.

My first cameras were rangefinder cameras. Back then reflex cameras were the domain of the pro due to cost. But then the big equalizer, high production and lower cost, made them affordable. As happens in every industry. So, I got one, and then could not afford the lenses. And so the cycle goes on and on.

Now I can afford all of it, but am too old and weak to carry all I can afford.

Do you somehow find this to be a threat to your masculinity?

NP, that is just stupid. Even Renee Richards, a t***s in the womens tennis circuit said in a later life interview, "if I were allowed to play as a woman when I was in my 20's, no woman could have come close to my level of play"

PC be damned, men are men and women are women and all the Democratic Socialists in the world will never change that.

Yes, a better photographer would surely argue that point... but this is the best I could do...

You and Clyde Butcher find beauty where others just see a swamp. And I agree with both of you!

Silverrails, I think your question should be "Where do I get inspiration for taking natural photos for a business?" That is a lot different than focusing on the equipment first, and art second. I am enclosing a link of one of the best photographers I personally know. She both takes photos, and creates art/paints thru watercolor and other medias. Look at her website and particularly how she uses light. https://www.ktziegler.com/ She shot all of these with either a d300 or a d700, so the focus is not on the biggest most expensive camera and equipment, but more the artistic vision and knowledge of how to use light to create something that looks like more than it is.
