Teaching is not an option that I had considered. I will certainly consider it when the time comes. I was hoping however, to receive some suggestions that are not so conventional. I'm looking for a novel way to combine photography and the internet or just photography in a new, never-before-done manner to make money in retirement. Suggestions please!

Not to sound mean, but if I had this great idea, that no one has ever come up with, why would I share it??

Took the jump last week and joined Kelby Training for a year for only $179. So far I have done 2 complete classes with the best being working with speed lights that is run by photographer Syl Arena. Excellent course!!

That's a good price. Was it a sale? I've always used lynda, but I think their annual price is higher.

EDIT: Wow! Lynda is $250 for a year!

EDIT: kelby is now $199/yr.

Yea. Kelby was running a black Friday price all week long.
This coupon code might still work also. It is also worth $20. off a yearly subscription.

What...you do not want to join the EU and have Germany running the show?? Why not...then you could have the same monetary system (go broke) as the rest of Europe.

I'm trying to buy a hard case for my lovely Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8G lens. I can't find one on ebay or google (isn't everything ever made visible on google?). I found one for my 85mm f/1.8D

Did Nikon really only make a soft cover for their venerable 17-55 lens? Do they even still make and sell those great leather clad hard lens cases for any Nikkor model?

thanks,

J-

The best cases that I have used are made by Pelican. http://www.pelican.com/ Their cases have hard foam that you can cut out to any size, and are water proof.

I have done this using Photoshop cs5.
The easiest way is to do this:
FILE
SCRIPTS
LOAD FILES INTO STACK
(you will now have 3 layers, 1 of each picture)
Click on the 1st layer to make it active
Create a layer mask
Click on the layer mask
Use the paintbrush to paint out the person (make sure opacity is set to 100%)
Hit control-I to invert the layer mask
Do the same for the 2nd photo.
Leave the 3rd photo alone.
LAYER
FLATTEN IMAGE
Bang it's all done

Perhaps if a no vote, was counted as a vote for no change, it would encourage people to get involved more. Just an idea, not a suggestion.

If a no vote counted for no change, then once you got in you would NEVER be elected out of office. You would need at least 75% participation and of that 75%, you would need better than 66% of those people to vote against the incumbent to get someone new into office. NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!! Do the math.

I am really thinking of making my photography into a business. Right now I just take pics for friends and sometimes their friends but the only schooling I can get at the community college here in town for photography basically just teach how to use your camera I want to learn the whole business.. I guess my questions are as follows. Is there a course I could take on line or should I keep looking for a college that will offer night classes because I can't quit my job now to go to school.

NYIP - New York Institute of Photography. Full course on photography and the business of photography.

Any golden Fstop settings for making sure everyone is in focus?
Or any other tips? Lenses?
Have Canon 24-70L lens, 70-200L to many to list, lol

You should try a panoramic shot. You can get in closer and stitch it together. Should be a fun project.

Here are some pics that I took yesterday with my Canon 100-400. It was raining off and on and you can actually see raindrops in some of the pics.

Just wondering if anyone could give me a good idea what the best decision would be on stepping up my Canon. Currently I operate a rebel T2i. I already have investments made in to canon lenses but I am looking to upgrade my body as I am getting in to photography a little more as a business. I mostly do portraiture and not so much landscapes, but want the versatility of being able to take it everywhere, not just in studio. I want to make the investment in a long term body and upgrade lenses as I go if needed, but mostly want to invest in a body I won't want to be replacing in a few years.
I feel very comfortable operating canon cameras so I would like to stick with that brand. Is the Canon 5d mark III the way to go?
Just wondering if anyone could give me a good idea... (show quote)

It just so happens that the one of the "daily deals" on ebay today is this camera for $2899.00.

You DON'T get rid of a D7000 and some lenses! You GET another D600 and some MORE lenses! That's the way to stay balanced!

Eh Doc ..... talk about being balanced ..... this is balance, notice how his feet dig into the grass for support ..... and the shin pads protect his knees when he collapses .....

Now that's an avid golf fan! Is that a Canon or a cannon on his back??

Wow that is with your 70-200 I assume using your 5D! My 70-200 + T2i would never half captured so much real estate. Nice shot, are you using a kit filter or a 77 mm glass

Yes, that is with my 5D and my 70-200 2.8. I am using a Cokin 4" square filter. I have adapters for all of my lenses. Yesterday I purchased a Hoya ND400 "black glass", uses 9 stops. Can't wait for it to arrive.
