Why does EVERYBODY besides Canon shooters start seeing red when someone announces they want a Canon Camera?
It's not because the sensors are better.

So why so much insecurity and jealousy?!

Is it because Canon is #1. Is it because more pros use them than any other camera? Is it because they shoot faster? Is it because they have more AF lenses? Or maybe because in real world tests the 5Dmklll is always picked the better camera over the D810? Or because Canon sells 10x more cameras than Sony?

Canons are just a flat out better camera and the new 7Dmkll must be pretty intimidating, but why all the jealousy?!

NOW, breath iiiiin, now breath ooooout. See, the red is already going away!

Acquired a Nikon D3200 bundle with the added 55-200 lens. Now the learning curve from film SLR. Any suggestions about where to look for "user-friendly" resources?

I vote for U tube, but look at the links there and find someone who speaks an understandable English...not all of them do.

What is the best printer for someone printing their own photos. Photo printers say they produce excellent prints, but can the quality of home printed prints come close to those printed commercially?

What photo printers produce the best prints? What to you recommend?

There is no "BEST" . . . it depends on your needs and wants. I use the Epson R 3000 and I like it very much.

What is the free download? Is it the DNG convertor? Wh not use Nikons own software to convert to TIFF or JPG and then process in CS5?

Yes, it is the DNG converter. I have never used Nikon software.

I'm just curious. I bought my first cameras in Vietnam because you could get them cheap at the PXs there. I learned to use the darkroom at Special Services in Qui Nhon. I got hooked and have been ever since.

It appears that a lot of us are of a certain (ahem) age, and from some of the comments I've seen on various threads, I have a feeling that quite a few of us started out in Vietnam. Personally, photography and my USAA membership are the two best things I got from military service :) :)

I recently purchased a Nikon D7100 and of course tried it out by taking some photos. Well lo and behold my CS5 version of photoshop will not read the raw files and tells me that the camera is too new for my version.

So now I have two questions. Is there an update for CS5 that will read the D7100 NEF (raw) files, or 2) would I be better off getting something like Photoshop Elements 13 and will the new elements 13 read the Raw files taken with the D7100?

I have CS 5 and the Nikon 7100 and they work fine Adobe has a free downlaod that will allow you to convert the images for CS5 to open

We have been using interchangeable lenses in one body only since Columbus discovered America. With digital it has been the same and I can understand your concerns for dust on the sensor but, is dust on the sensor more expensive to clean than buying a new body?
If you were a professional, lets say a wedding photographer, two similar bodies fit with two different lenses to suit your purpose would be a good reason to buy another similar body. I can say the same of a journalist using his or her cameras to document different events.
We are all different and we think differently and act differently for that matter. In my particular case I have nothing against exchanging lenses when needed on any of my bodies, all different but in general I try to select according to my subject a lens, usually a zoom that will solve the majority of the shots I need without exchanging lenses.
Just some thoughts.

Cleaning dust off the sensor is, of course, cheaper than buying another body, but it is a pain in the butt to do...especially outdoors...and sensors can be easily damaged. I have two camera bodies but more than 2 lenses...so I choose the lenses that I prefer to use on a certian shoot and put them on the camera bodies at home or the studio...(both fairly dustless areas) compared to the outside world.

I did the same thing last year Doug, I have a D7000 and shoot a lot of aircraft close to you (New Carlisle). Bad environment for lens changes. Purchased a D7100 for a second body, and this year a Df for street photography. Very seldom am I forced to change lenses, and very seldom do I have to clean my sensor. It works !! Go for it!

I have a D7000 and a D 7100 so I don't have to change lenses...I also have a D 200 as back with a 3rd lens on it. I try to NEVER change lenses on a digi camera!!!

Guys/Gals, have you ever experienced a situation or situations whereby you had wished for an extra camera body which is or will be the same as the ones that you already have ~ so that when you want to take photos with a different particular lens, you won't have to remove lenses that are already mounted upon the camera bodies that you currently/already have ~ such as lenses already mounted upon them that are of a different focal length ? Well, if you have, perhaps, you won't think of me as being totally nuts when I have temptations to purchase another, identical camera body ! :D

Although my current Nikon camera body arsenal consists of a D800e and a D810, serious considerations are now being given to purchasing another D810 body whereas when I want to place a particular lens upon it, there will be no need to remove lenses that are already mounted upon either of my existing bodies; namely, the D800e or the D810..

It's not that I am lazy nor is it because there is money to burn, but I'm thinking that constantly removing a lens from a body isn't always the best option at hand ~ due to the possibility of dust entering into the body or contaminating it's sensor and it surely would be more convenient to just grab another body and place the lens of choice upon it, especially, if the other camera bodies and the lenses mounted upon them will need to be immediately used too ;-)

Perhaps turning the question around might help. What is it about your current camera that isn't meeting your needs?

You say you want to go full frame. Why is that? Are you going to be printing large poster-sized images?

Even though cameras today are purposed-specific computers, I don't find their technology ages quite the same way does a laptop or tablet in which the software they run updates and makes the hardware obsolete.

(I have in my closet a Minolta SRT-101 that I used in college 40 years ago. If I wanted to return to film, I think that camera and its lenses would still be as good now as they were then).
