Your right dead is dead, but anti gun people are always wanting facts backed up from pro gun people. Anti gun people want to limit or severely restrict gun ownership by law abiding citizens. We both know that the criminals, thugs, however you refer to them will not turn in nor register their weapons. The key is the only ones affected is the law abiding citizens. Explain how any additional gun laws will get the unregistered/illegally owned off the streets. Thanks

Tom your probably right socialism probably wasn't the correct term to use. But I don't think it's a waste to look at what people are saying these days. There seem to be a lot of people that think parents either don't have the sense or right to raise their children as they see fit. They are not property but a responsibility. So I guess socialism isn't that far off if she is considering them as property....lol.

Socialism" means that the government owns the means of production.

Anyway was hoping to get folks thoughts on the video not my choice of words.

Definition of SOCIALISM

1
: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods
2
a : a system of society or group living in which there is no private property
b : a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state
3
: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done

This from the on-line dictionary. Still doesn't seem too appropriate to me, unless the discussion is whether children are private property, or public property. Not sure "property" applies at all, but...

I think I ( we ) have wasted too much time on this.

Cheers, tom

So does that mean they are looking out for the rich democrats as well? How many are "rich" on both sides of the isle? The presidents net worth is around $11 million, I call that rich.

Right. They are looking out for the rich while trying to convince the others that they are for them too. Economically, the party offers the bottom 47% nothing but smoke and mirrors, distracts them with volatile single issues, like anti-arbortion, anti-immigration, anti-minorities, pro guns, and pro unlimited militarization. The average person is finally beginning to figure out the reality of the trickle down lie, which only shifted all the increased wealth of the last 35 years upward. The time has come when the lies no longer work. A new set of lies must be invented to steal enough votes to win the next election.

Can't agree with you Gadfly, the only thing I've noticed is people expressing their opinions on various subjects and some may go overboard defending their point.

But it's ironic that you start this post about anti-Brit post and you yourself choose to single out a group. Your words "they seem to be typical of the red-neck NRA lobby". So are you displaying an anti-American view, I don't think so. You probably don't agree with the NRA's view but redneck?

As a newcomer to the correspondence parts of UHH I have been reading back on some of the previously published items and I am amazed by the virulent Anti-British sentiments so often expressed. Is it all based on the fact that pre-1776 the US was a British Colony ?? If so is it not about time that you considered the old "forgive and forget" approach ? Either that or, perhaps, remember that it was also your own ancestors who established the pre-1776 colony and also that there were for many years large areas of what is now the USA that were ruled as French or Spanish colonies. Do you feel the same antagonism towards France and Spain?

I might add that I do not believe that the anti-British views are typical of Americans as a whole - although they seem to be typical of the red-necked NRA lobby.

Finally, if it the concept of colonialism that creates the feelings shown, perhaps some of you should wonder about the way in which many of the world's people view American "colonialism". We gave up virtually all of our former Empire many years ago as we realised the reality of modern-day living around the world. But we got out of Empire in a way which left everywhere in a better condition than we originally found it. Unlike some of the old European empires!!!! In this context, you might like to consider that Kenya, on independence, had an economy which is said to have been wealthier than that of Malaya. Compare them now

It will be interesting to see some views explaining the anti-British attitudes.

I've always been told if you say bless your heart here in the South, then you can say anything you want. But that's everybody and not just we Christians.

I don't sit in fear "waiting on the boogeyman to come and kill me" either but I have something I can defend myself with if he does.

Frank, in case he does come, how are you going to defend your family and yourself if he does?

My point was the hypocrisy of people who call themselves "christian" while living ostentatious lives. As for me, I simply don't believe in the make believe that you call your religion.
