This from the on-line dictionary. Still doesn't seem too appropriate to me, unless the discussion is whether children are private property, or public property. Not sure "property" applies at all, but...

Right. They are looking out for the rich while trying to convince the others that they are for them too. Economically, the party offers the bottom 47% nothing but smoke and mirrors, distracts them with volatile single issues, like anti-arbortion, anti-immigration, anti-minorities, pro guns, and pro unlimited militarization. The average person is finally beginning to figure out the reality of the trickle down lie, which only shifted all the increased wealth of the last 35 years upward. The time has come when the lies no longer work. A new set of lies must be invented to steal enough votes to win the next election.

As a newcomer to the correspondence parts of UHH I have been reading back on some of the previously published items and I am amazed by the virulent Anti-British sentiments so often expressed. Is it all based on the fact that pre-1776 the US was a British Colony ?? If so is it not about time that you considered the old "forgive and forget" approach ? Either that or, perhaps, remember that it was also your own ancestors who established the pre-1776 colony and also that there were for many years large areas of what is now the USA that were ruled as French or Spanish colonies. Do you feel the same antagonism towards France and Spain?

I might add that I do not believe that the anti-British views are typical of Americans as a whole - although they seem to be typical of the red-necked NRA lobby.

Finally, if it the concept of colonialism that creates the feelings shown, perhaps some of you should wonder about the way in which many of the world's people view American "colonialism". We gave up virtually all of our former Empire many years ago as we realised the reality of modern-day living around the world. But we got out of Empire in a way which left everywhere in a better condition than we originally found it. Unlike some of the old European empires!!!! In this context, you might like to consider that Kenya, on independence, had an economy which is said to have been wealthier than that of Malaya. Compare them now

It will be interesting to see some views explaining the anti-British attitudes.
