Thanks. Last time we were there 2 days in Edinburgh. No realatives there but we took a trip out to the Isle of May for the Puffins. I might just do that again. Leaving hubby at home, he’s not a photog so he wouldn’t get running around the country side.

I’m going to Scotland to visit realiatives in Brora, Aberdeen & Edinburgh not chosen a date yet.
I am female traveling alone with no car, I bus or train it.
I’ve always wanted to do a photo tour there up in the north.
Are there any operators that you’ve used that won’t break the bank.
I’m looking for a 3-7 day trip.
Or do you have any suggestions on areas to do myself.
Thanks

When I used Nikon I had the Tamron one. Loved it. So you did good.
Switched to Fuji a few years ago. Way better. But to each their own.

I wouldn’t be buying the 50-14o unless I was into weddings or portraits. I have no use for it. It’s a great lens I just would need it. I use my 100-400 for wildlife & the 18-135 i use when I travel. It gives me what I need. I did use my 55-200 when I went to Alaska, I used it for eagles by the water, it did a great job considering. I just didn’t want to take my other for a cruise.

I have been researching two lenses by fuji, that would cover the area between my fuji 18-50mm and my Fuji 100-400mm. What many would call a "walking around lens. I am considering the 55-200 and the 18-135mm lenses. Without having my hands on either of them, I have formed an opinion (uninformed, basically) favoring the "made-in-Japan, 55 -200mm. It's $200 less than the 18-135mm and NOT weatherproof. I'm a bit nervous about a coin toss to make a choice, and thought that there may be HOGGS that know something about either, or both. RSVP, please, or P.M. me.. Thanks. RJM

I have the 18-135, 100-400 & 55-200. Most of the time the 18-135 is on my camera. I took the 55-200 to Alaska to shoot the glacier from the ship. Wish I had taken the 100-409 instead. I love my 18-135.

Just outside of Edinburgh, you can take the train, but we did this on a Sunday so the early train didn’t run.
We had to take a cab £50. We went to the Isle of May. It’s a nature reserve with Puffins. We did this2. Yes ago in July. The were nesting at that time. You go out on a zodiac for about 20mins to the island. There are naturalist to walk you around for about 45mins then your on your own. It was amazing I got so many shots.
If you do it make sure you bring a bag to cover your pack from getting wet in the boat. You need warm clothes & hat it’s windy for sure. We took the train back to Edinburgh later that day. We did drive right pat St Andrews golf course on the way out.

We have been to the coast, Venice. I used to have a Nikon 7100. I had the 18-105 on it at the time. It’s not really Reach you want for this adventure. So perhaps the Tamaron 18-400 would suit your purpose. Best of both worlds & it won’t break the bank.
One thing I can say is don’t eat in the tourist traps along the canal. The foods bad & way over priced. We found a nice cafe just past the Doges Palace on a side street. It was so good. Also took the Secrect behind the scenes tour at the Palace. It was really interesting.
Take the valepos-water taxies out to the other islands. We took one out to the cemetery island. So pretty & quiet.
Loved walking in Venice at night. The tourist are gone for the day.
Look into Viatours Venice or for any other city they give you a good idea what to see.
They have a lot of skip the lines entrance tickets. We’ve used them all over the world. You really need skip the line in Rome.
Have a great time.

We came back a few weeks ago. Take the 55-300 you’ll need it for the glaciers.
If you have a balcony stay there, the ship goes up the inlet & turns twice then leaves.
You will see the same thing from your balcony as you will up on deck.
And it quieter too to heard the glacier it’s amazing the sound it makes.

You should see it up here in Vancouver, BC.
The news said our air quality was worse than LA or Beijing right now.

I have to totally agree with you. Nikon 3300 is the low end of the products. If you still want to keep going with them then get the D500 or 850 for what you want to do.
I gave up on Nikon a few years ago & went with Fuji XT2. I used to shoot raw only, but I just love the jpegs.
Fuji keeps up with firmware updates, asks its customers what they want/need. And they have great glass.
Nikon get you to buy a new camera to upgrade any new features. Fuji doesn’t they upgrade the firmware instead.
Not to bash Nikon but they haven’t asked a customer in years what their needs are.
I haven’t had an opportunity to see their new mirrorless but I doubt they will be any better.
You were right about the camera sales agent. He got you good you just traded one point & shoot for another.
The prices should drop soon on the XT2 as the XT3 will be coming out.
Good luck with your search.
