I really don't know why . Just got sucked in , like Jerry, its the technology but after about 5 years of being a bad photographer , I am looking more at the lighting and creative stuff, This has confirmed that I am a bad photographer .

I see a new string of scary movies on the horizon. Remember all those "Sharknado" movies?
I always talk to new friends about my giant penguin.
Its a good ice breaker (apologies )
I went out on the ice to see some penguins and tried to entice one to jump down from his position with a tree held out .
He almost jumped but got cold feet in the end.
I really need to consider it. Please send me a lot of examples .
I almost had a cruise to Egypt. Went to look at the ship. Asked where the restrooms were and was told port side, no way am I going to wait until I get to Egypt.
Philo, I will definitely remember ewe.
I agree with you, I use this head and one of their GP 2 ball heads which has a “gimbal” head facility built in. Very clever, there are videos on the Acratech website

Thanks all, for your thoughts
Someday the 200-500 might make it into my bag, but the 5.6 is pretty light limited and the 95 filters and the wife are holding me back
Is it possible to part exchange your wife for a 500mm F4 ?
Jerry, I opened this up and it really disappointed me , actually it gave me the needle. (another superb example of English Humour )
Really great photos , you sure that the Gator did not pose for the photo?
Debbie Wiseman is a current English composer who, IMHO, is superb , give her a try.

I read a lot of novels about Wales (and England) of the 11th and 12th centuries (books by Sarah Woodbury). Can you tell me what music they would have heard?
Not a lot really, it would have been mostly Church stuff, plain song and Gregorian chant. There was a tradition of Minstrels singing. Instruments came to the UK after the crusades in the Middle East , imported the tambour, ( drum) and sackhorn, (sort of bagpipes), we were a pretty uncultured lot but very good at fighting each other.
Dealt with them a few times in the UK. No problems and good service.
I am going to throw a spanner in the works . I have a D850, love it but dont use all the available facilities .
One thing you need to be aware of is that diffraction sets in at about F5.6 to F8 on the D850. At smaller apertures you will get diffraction but have to remember that there is a lot more information there in the first place .
If you are not going to be doing wildlife or sports , consider the Z6. Smaller, lighter and great edge to edge sharp lens . Got one and now wish I had bought the Z7 but....... .For sports and wildlife the lens are just not there and stick to the D500.
Dont believe some of the rubbish that you've read about the Z system , the reality is different and you can still use your current lens . Once you've got used to the z system you will find that it is very easy to use , you will access all your controls via the EVF menu,

I would like to know if there is a way for me to GPS? locations I want to photograph at. I sometimes find them at the wrong time of day and would like to go back but often, on backroads for example, I don't know where I am. I use a Garmin GPS to get me out of there. What I would like to do is somehow mark where I am with a very brief description of what it is, bridge, barn etc. Any ideas?
I use a device that is attached to my camera , its third party made by Di-GPS. its plugs into a 10 pin socket on my Nikon, but they make various models for different camera . It automatically adds the location to the exif data . Been using it for several years and its been excellent . Very light and don't even notice it .
Good luck
