allpar.com would have the complete and true answers. The Chrysler and DeSoto hemis were discontinued after 1958, except the Imperial might have kept the 392 hemi for 1 more year. Chrysler introduced the B and RB series of wedge head big block engines for 1959. Only the Plymouth got the 350 V8, Dodge and DeSoto got the 361 and B 383. Chrysler got the RB 383 and the 413. Imperial got the 413 in 1960 (?).

2 interesting things. Chrysler couldn't build B 383s fast enough so they used the RB line for the RB 383. 2 different engines, same displacement. Just like the poly 318 and wedge 318 later. All the B series engines had the same stroke, just bigger and bigger bore sizes. From 350 to 361, 383, and 400, all had the same stroke.

The RB was a "raised deck" for a longer stroke. So heads and intakes are specific for the 2 series. The RB engines ere 383, 413, 426, and 440. If you want a 59 or 60 Chrysler, and it has a 2 bbl carb, it's probably an RB 383. My dad's 61 Chrysler Newport came with a 361. That's a whole different story.

btw, Christine was a 58 Belvedere.

Again, if you want all the dope check out allpar.com.

The so-called background music on action tv shows and movies sounds like a deaf engineer testing synthesizers. That is not music, it does not heighten suspense, it just aggravates us (me only?). Or should I just admit my name should be Ove?

Remember, nature hates a vacuum. Stephen Hawking theorized that black holes can evaporate because atoms and anti-atoms can spontaneously appear (without upsetting the balance of nature) near the edge of a black hole and only the anti-atom gets sucked into the black hole. This anti-atom destroys an atom somewhere along the way, lessening the mass of the black hole by 1 atom. Eventually the black hole evaporates.

So... matter can appear spontaneously. Before the Big Bang there were no positives and antis to worry about.

Great shots and... no "snakebird!" We even saw anhingas in Africa! We loved Costa Rica too. Nice shot of the purple sabrewing hummingbird, mine didn't turn out, nut behind the viewfinder error. My "avatar" picture is from a hummingbird feeding station somewhere around Mt. Poa.

Very nice.

For those wondering what "445"means, it's probably the torque rating of the engine, that's what Buick did, "named" their engines by the torque rating. Also one can tell here by the narrow valve covers this is a nailhead engine. The intake valves and ports provide a very good path for the air-fuel mixture to reach the cylinders. But this used space for the exhaust valves and ports, the exhaust valves are very small as a result. The valves are a small as nails (not really).

Good. We had a swarm one 4th of July and the neighbors had a pool party scheduled. Bee keeper came, put down a hive, put the queen in the hive and left until very very early the next day to pick up the hive. Once the queen gets in the hive the rest of colony follows. Workers were out foraging, that's why he left the hive until the morning, to give those workers a chance to join the hive. Swarming bees are very gentle, unless they're Africanized. Nobody got stung. I stood next to the beekeeper while he was looking for the queen and scooping beens on to the hive panels. Very interesting. He wanted the bees, more than happy to provide his service.

We get our glasses at Costco. A whole lot cheaper, name brand frames too. Get the exam (every other year if that) and take the prescription to Costco. Save hundreds. Well, you might not save a dime, she now has glasses to go with every outfit!

Can you take another picture of the car, or one similar, without the glare? Select the windshield from that exposure and copy it to the clipboard. Paste it on this exposure which will create a layer with just the windshield. Then use edit free transform to make it fit properly. This works pretty well when I have 2 pictures of a person and their eyes are closed on one, just copy the eyes from the other and use free transform to make them fit.

Let's see, I've got some $6,000,000 laying around here somewhere. Now, where did I put it?

Ever notice the 1930s Martins or the pre CBS Fenders on Antiques Roadshow? Especially if they come with the original case and sales documentation. Faster your seat belt!

And... bring a polarizing filter. For chromed parts mostly although some of the high gloss paint do not photograph well.

All the "drama" in these shows is scripted. No one in Joe Martin's or Dave Kindig's position would put up nonsense like they show. Kevin stamping "Kevdog" on workers' faces? Making fun of a worker's fear of snakes? No, not in real life. And that's one reason why I stopped watching. Seems to me "executive producers" ruin American tv shows with "human interest" crapola. Not just car shows but just about any series one cares to name.

What? No mention of the 64 Riviera? I had an XKE and the view over the steering wheel at the hood (bonnet) and front fenders (wings) was supposed to be sexual. Who am I to disagree?
