Looks like he/she has had a run in or two with other local inhabitants.

No flowers outside yet but got this orchid starting to bloom by the back door. It's nice to see new growth after a long winter. It's also fun learning to stack images.

I shoot the z9 and have been making do with the f mount lenses with adapter until I can save the money for the z 2.8 lenses. This is maybe a nutty suggestion but after struggling with the prices for the z 2.8 zoom lenses I decided to get a cheap z 50-250. It's dx but meets my needs in the short term for a walk around zoom that produces good sharp pics. Reduces pic size to around 15 mb but that is adequate for much of my shooting needs. With the 50-250 and the z 24-70 f4 and I have the ranges covered and can go with the two lenses and have the equivalent of 24-350 with the two lenses for a decent walk around combo until I can afford upgrades. Of course indoor light without a flash poses a problem with those lenses but my low fstop fz mount lenses work really well on the z9 so I don't feel an urgent need to upgrade. Long explanation of a solution to the problem of inadequate zoom walk around s lens currently available.

I have enjoyed this "other hobby" posts by others and decided to post some pics of a hobby that preceded my infatuation with photography. For about 10 years I used most of my vacation time to work in rock. The primary goal was a rock house but there were other rock items that became the fixtures.

I hope I never have to get it down form the loft. It was constructed on location and is enormously heavy.

While not strictly speaking rock, the antlers posed similar problems during construction. The holes for mounting and wiring.

[quote=profbowman]You do not say, but I assume you are using the built-in card reader on your laptop. What make and model of laptop are you using?

--Richard

Actually, it was two different external card readers. One for cf express and one for xqd and sd. Windows explorer just would not bring them up before the restart. It would see camera file but not bring up the thumbnails for transfer. My normal workflow is to transfer the raw files to a monthly nef file in "pictures" and the edit from there. I am relieved to have this problem solved.

Well that was quick. I simple reboot of the computer seems to have solved the problem. I should know better by now. Thank you.

I have always used a card reader to upload photos. Suddenly I can only load them through the photo program (windows 10) that starts automatically when I attach camera directly to the laptop and turn it on. I could live with that but it significantly downsizes the Pic size when it loads to the laptop. I have searched around the laptop and camera and can't figure out what might have changed. I may need to take it in to a service shop to get it figured out but thought I would mine the depths of UH member knowledge before incurring the expense. Does anyone have advice on this topic?

Have two external hard drives and also use Prime Photo which has the added benefits of allowing my scattered family members access and the ability to download photos they want.

I also use a monopod and lens on shoulder. I don't fully trust the connection so I tether the camera to the monopod using wrist strap and carabiner.

I use it quite a bit and find it sufficient for most of my needs. I hate the ongoing cost of photoshop stuff.

Heavily cropped pic of the moon setting over Burnt Mountain about 2 miles away, near Nye, MT. It's a little odd but I like the way it turned out. It was not shot or edited as monochromatic but was sharpened.
