Defense of self, family and home is at the center of owning firearms. The pacifist anti gun lobby will always rely on armed police to protect them. I rely on myself to protect me and mine, I will use whatever force is necessary to assure the ones I love are as safe as I can. You and the rest of the anti gun group have no clue. How helpless you are when someone is dedicated to harming you. The police only know if you are in trouble if you have the time to wait for them to show up after you call them. I personally don't plan on having to wait for anyone to help me! Ask a rape victem how long it takes to get help? And ask them if they carry a gun now? Step into the victems shoes before you create laws that will never keep you safe when you need real help! I agree we need to address the growing problem with anger and fear in our society, That is the real problem...

The speed of light is not constant. Light can be bent and this light takes more time to travel from point A to B. Therefore since it is not constant Einsteins theory is just that a theory with flaws.

The gun can't kill anyone unless there is a reckless, or derainged person at the other end. A shovel is a tool also. how many have been killed by shovels or hammers or cars? Are we going to ban those tools also? There is a rising tsunami of people that are only hearing "GUN DEATHS" the media is riding this wave and feeding the frenzy. The government will cave in and pass more restrictive laws that can't be enforced! And we lose more freedoms!

Exactly, The focus is on the tools used and not the real problem. We have desensetized our youth to death and violence with all the wars and war games. It used to be the parents and teachers were able to protect kids from bullys but now we are handcuffed by laws that allow kids to act out in any way they want. If the parents or teachers use corporal punishment the lawyers are called in to sue them out of existence. Todays kids are so afraid of their peers they bring weapons to school. They are using the same tactics the Israelies use, preemptive strikes! The lawmakers are guilty of creating a paranoid society by passing laws that either don't work or feed the paranoia. I don't believe in laws that create different classes of people. Our Constitution applies to all people not a select group. When a law separates one group of people from another then it is a law that needs to be removed. Think this way, we already have laws that protect all people from murder, assault, theft, etc. We do not need laws that have to include the color of someones skin, their religon, their sexual preferences, their political position etc... The laws are designed for ALL people already but when you separate someone to make special circumstances for their group you diminish others not of that group! I am an Egalitarian, I believe we are all equal in the eyes of the law. Or should be... We pay our Senators and Congress a lot of money, They are trying to justify their existance by passing new laws. We don't need new laws we need to get rid of stupid laws that don't make sense or that can't be enforced!

Our freedoms are systematically being removed in the name of national security and patriotism. Remember an unarmed society is easier to control!!! The real problem is too many people are afraid. They have lost hope and our public electorate are sitting on their hands or are deliberately undermining the constitution. It is deranged unstable people that are committing these attricities and if they didn't have guns they would use other means to do their deeds.

Ponder this, When the Germans were invading Europe, If the countries involved did not have armed civilian how long would they have held out waiting for their government troops to supply them weapons? The French underground and other local militia with hunting weapons were very instrumental in holding them down. Those who do not remember history is doomed to repeat it. I have hunting rifles and will defend to the death my right to own them! It is an unfortunate truth that the armed forces of any country is only as just as the polititions that control them! If you were to ask the average German soldier of WW1 or WW2 They would be appalled at the atrocities their leaders were perpetrating. Having a well armed civilian army is the best way to insure that our own armed services don't turn on us! I don't see anything wrong with large capacity weapons because the armies of the world all have them and more! The real issue at hand is, How to determine who is capable of these heinous and horrendous acts. How do we keep them from accessing their victims. We all cry foul when innocents are attacked and try to find the quickest and least painful ways to enact laws to keep this from happening again. The people acting out these attrocities don't abide by laws anyway therefore more laws won't solve the problem.

Greed is at the bottom of this entire story! The Business owner recently filed for chapter eleven because of poor management strategies, they therefore could not pay their employees their usual pay increases, the unions greed as well as the employees could not see beyond their own nose and insisted the owner keep up with his previous increases. The assets will be sold and employees dismissed and the owner will be free to start another company or retire on his liquidation profit if any.

Here is a solution to the above scenario: Restrict the Unions from demanding pay increases. Restructure the company so that the employees have a say in how the company is operated and if the company profits, a percentage of the profits are held in an interest bearing account and the employees are payed a percentage of the interest. If the company does not profit the owner and the employees sit down and discuss why the company failed to profit and strategize ways to bring in more profit. At that time the pay of the owner and the employees should be covered by the above account. If the account shrinks to the point that it is unable to insure everyone can get the regular pay then everyone would recieve a pay cut until the company either becomes insolvent or can show profit again. In all symbiotic relationships both parties are responsible for the health of the other. In the Hostess situation neither party held the health of the company first and foremost. The owners greed and inability to see the employees side and the Unions greed and inability to see the owners side has put them all at risk!

No partysh (Hic)! Doeshn"t sheem like much fun! (Hic)

Seriously though we have the ability to vote for anyone, it's called a write in. The problem with write in voting is, you need to convince enough people to vote. You also need to convince the write in person to serve if elected!

Usually the odd vote is just a spoiler vote, it is like not voting at all. But, you then can say "I didn't vote for *****".

You were right about that. What a wonderfully amusing series. My puppy just learned to overcome his fear of waves and learned how to swim out to fetch yesterday, this dog in the snow looks similar in many respects.

Eskiles; you swans are a funny white colour. :-D I'll have to go find some proper black ones to show you in the Aussie thread.

I hope you keep up the excellent work Alaskans.

I am having a little chuckle Eskiles about your worrying about being outnumbered by Aussies. You helped us out in our thread, what a good sport. Wish I could help back.

I was also thinking, how are you Alaskans going to keep coming up with amazing array of shots now that winter is approaching? Although I do remember reading somewhere about there being a thousand different kinds of snow! :-)
