Only use M when the camera wont do what I want to get the effect I want. The camera does a great job most of the time. I can work on the image and not worry about the settings - Dave
My folks lived in Nampa and on one visit we picked up a few softball sized rocks to bring back to Nebraska on the lake's shore. Your shot is great. - Thanks - Dave
I found out about that extra battery in my D80. I have used it for a grandkid's camera for a few years. I did as the manual told my and took out the main battery. When I got it out to play with one of my Grandkids it had an ERR message. It ran out of power and nothing works. So don't let that battery run down! - Dave
Get an exposure meter or find an from a Kodak film box that has suggestions for settings for different light situations. Towards the end of film they printed the info on the inside of the box.You may also want to look for an old beginners book on how to take pictures. Most have a section on what settings to use in different types of light, Of course there is the old "Sunny Sixteen" method. Have fun. - Dave
If you need to go cheap and have the "kit" 18-55mm lens add a set of close up lenses and you will be ready to go. If you want to go real macro look for a Nikon 55mm f/3.5 film camera lens. I haver one that works great on my D90. They go for about $35 on eBay. You will also want to shoot in lowest quality - It is fine for eBay and loads a lot faster than the higher quality settings. Good luck - Dave
Go to eBay! Your camera has a focus motor and there are lots of lenses with auto focus that need the Camera motor on eBay. Many for less than $50. One that has a motor is the 18-55 lens that has been recommended. It is going for $50 plus or minus a few dollars. If you want to consider the off brand lenses the Quantaray 28-90 mm is a bargain going for about $20 and it is sharp and well built. Most lenses ship now for around $12 Best of luck in your hunt - Dave

Thanks - Remember them well from when we lived in Salt Lake and when I went to my Grandparents in Roy and looked at them through my Grandparent's field glasses 70 years ago. - Dave
Karken - I am about as anti-Trump as you can get. But Trump is my President and not yours. Why don't you just butt-out and let us fight with the Trump and Crew. You need to worry about your own country. - Dave
