Gwong1 - You make a good point it could be an OSPREY.

No -The shot needed one but this model will not accept filters (no threads). I PP the gators back to cut the glare.
There is an adapter but that makes the lenght grow and defeats the compactness of the camera.

I have posted a shot at 23 mm and the bird is on the left post of the tower and the next shot is at 620mm. You can see it was a gray day. I shoot hand held F-8 1/1500sec - ISO of 160. I only wish I had my mono pod to see if it made any difference in clarity.

Can anybody identify the Hawk. I am too new at bird identification.

Gator is 403 mm F 5.7 1/400 Iso-160 again hand held.

Lets here some comments on this Bridge camera.

I used the range finder as there was so much glare on the display.

Good point - I am going to check which metering scene would fit situations with such a high contrast.

Swamp Gator you are right on the bird spearing the fish with its beak seperated as proven in your photo. I had been under the impression the beek spearing was done with the beak closed but that is now proven false. Learn some thing new every day. Great photos

I knew this photo was junk but what i wanted to see is if I could bring it back with PP. Then I wondered if some more experienced person could improve the photo.
It was shot with a PS camera into the light and the white subjects made the situation worst.

Thanks for the reply. I see now I need to have the camera in the action sequence mode so that when they do take off I will get the 5 shot sequence.

Looking at your second picture , I think the bird has its mouth closed when spearing the fish then opens it slightly to keep it from sliding off.

I think me shooting into the light caused the over exposure but can a picture like that be fixed? That is the challenge!

Looking at these photos from yesterday I see I was on the wrong side of the Sun (shooting S @10:30am) . I wanted to see if the picture could be improved. Photo labeled ORG is the orginal and the second is my attempt. I notice on the Histograms of the org that there is a lot of peaking going on in each color and in the improved the peaking is limited to one peak per color. Does that make any sence to you?

Feel free and please do try to work some magic on this photo.

I noticed the Anhinga speared the fish and had it's beak seperated to retain the fish.

Great action shot -

My question is do you shoot the bird using the burst feature (ie- camera takes 5 sucessive pictures one after another) or did you just time one shot?

The picture was so clear I checked to see what the focual lenght was and was surprised that You were using a 200mm.
(Looked at the photo tag of the picture)
