Thanks for all the thoughts, folks. I’m confused about card speed and the huge variation in prices. For example, on Amazon, looking at 64 GB SanDisk Extreme Pro cards, I see a card for $16 with a speed of 170 MBs, and a card for $40 that is 95 MB/s. Why would a slower card cost much more? More importantly, is there any reason to pay more for faster cards? I suspect not. I shoot almost no video. I currently use SanDisk Extreme Pro cards that are 95 MS/s and am satisfied. If I’m buying more SanDisk Extreme Pro cards, is there any reason not to buy the cheapest available for the size(s) I buy?

I saw that as well. Different vendors. My advice is to stick with sold by Amazon. Caveat emptor.

If you have a Payboo credit card, the sales taxes are still applied by B&H and remitted to your state. They then give you an immediate discount on the product in the form of a credit to your Payboo account in the amount of the sales taxes. You do not need to report the purchase to your state.

It's a shame the list software can't configured to provide a warning when you are replying to an old post. Where are our IT experts?

WTB: carbon fiber 3 segment tripod. I have a Manfrotto 4 segment carbon fiber tripod but it is not quite rigid enough for long exposure with long (400mm)lens. Prefer flip to twist locks, but rigid tripod at low price is objective.
Thanks.

I know nothing about the Velbon El Carmagne 530, but it might be worth investigating.

Same here. I literally just had my first ever issue, no big deal, just sent the wrong item. The seller has already (supposedly) sent me the proper item and an apology.

My experiences in buying and selling on ebay have been quite positive. I don't sell international and when buying, I avoid sellers with little feedback. If I have a gut concern, I send some sort of question about the item. That ferrets out the scammers.

The real risk is as a seller. You have to get a legitimate payment (I insist on PayPal) and then worry about damage or theft of your package before the buyer gets it.

I questioned the seller of a D7500 that I was interested in as to why it had been relisted 3 different times. All the prior "buyers" were trying to scam her. Thankfully, the sale to me worked out great for both of us.

Insure the lens for what you paid for it. You raise red flags when you try to insure for more than you paid; you are claiming that it is worth more than you paid, which requires an appraisal.

I just started putting pictures into Amazon Photos, and it's a bit different from Google Photos. With Google, I can fill the screen with a bunch of pictures in an album. When I click on an Amazon album, I get the pictures in a column. Is there a way to show a dozen or so on the screen at once?

Is it because it is sorting by "date taken"?
Try switching to display by date uploaded.

I have a D7200 which I like, and a Nikon a AF-S Nikkor 70-200 1.4G that I use a lot for sports photography. It is a decent lens but not quite as sharp as I would like. Any recommendations for a little sharper lens would be appreciated. Not sure how much I would have to pay for a better lens but I am open to used glass in very good condition. I am open to going up to zoom that goes to 300 also. I have had good luck buying used lenses. When I see other photographer's shots from the same event I shoot at, and they are sharper, it makes me realize I can do better. Also, is there an optimum f/stop that this lens is best at? I can I determine the optimum opening for a lens for sharpness?

Is your "lack of sharpness" present when manually focusing or just an AF problem? Have you gone through the AF fine tune exercise for your camera/lens combo?

DXOmark has done significant bench testing of various camera and lens combinations. I would look there for info on sharpest aperture, edge sharpness, effect of zoom position, etc.

Thank you all very much for the diversity and thoroughness of the comments. We're a small group of amateur photographers of widely varying experience and ability, living in a large retirement community. The goal of the club is to encourage members to expand their involvement with photography. Member's photos are viewed and discussed in monthly meetings and then displayed in slideshows in several places on campus. To keep interest levels up the club has varied meeting themes and activities.

Another member and I plan to suggest that one member at each monthly meeting present their "body of work." We think that would be interesting and educational. Your input gives us what we need to define the activity clearly, starting with different terminology than 'body of work."

Perhaps "body of work" is too much to ask for in a short, in-meeting, presentation.
Why not ask them to show
1/ 6 of their favorite (or perhaps, most memorable) images OR
2/ 6 images that encompass the range of their work

Yes, that seems to be his MO.
Last post generated 6 pages about Abes of Maine without any comment from him.
Plus, that Abes question could have been answered in real-time by using the Search feature.
