I recently read an article that showed that the main reason Canon sells more cameras is because there are so many Canon users always trying to take photos as good as Nikon shooters. Therefore, they just keep buying more Canon cameras, which defeats their purpose, when all they really need to do is to buy ONE Nikon camera.

OH! Yeah!!! I saw that in "Nikon Fantasies World" issue 0. I think it was in the "Not Living in the Real World" section.

I have also used the Sigma 18-35 1.8 at small events with a good bit of success. It depends on the size of the venue. Is this a resturant or ballroom?

Looking over the last 5 pages i am reminded of a two year old who has discovered he has a wee-wee and is waving it about for his mothers bridge club.

Don't you think it about time to apologize too the forum members for your rude behavior?

Nice to know you save old film from your childhood. But don't you think you should have outgrown the behavior after more than half a century?

Sorry but you will not get any of my gear! I have never said I am selling anything, I am just adding to my collection. I am not committed to any brand although Nikon is my highway I sometimes take the side roads as well.

Looking at your list of gear, get the 1D X! Round out your collection!

Definitely check out the Canon SX50 or SX60, or one of the Panasonic Lumix cameras. For sports, I would lean toward the Canon, but you should go to a Camera Store (not Best Buy but a real camera store) and hold them in your hand. A camera store will, in most cases, let you play with the camera more than a chain electronics store. You might even be able to rent one to try out.

I don't go back to read past posts made by anyone other than those made by the OP.. Obviously, you have time to do such, but while trying to respond to OP messages, I, too, am on other sites doing business which does not include photography.

Best of luck to you with helping others and I hope that your treasure trove of information helps any OP.

If I am going to call someone out for not including something in a reply, I definitly check their posts in the current thread to avoid looking foolish. But that's just me. You go ahead and present the image that makes you comfortable.

I am still waiting for the OP to rejoin the thread since I think it could be a worthwhile thread. However, if it does not happen soon, I am going to unwatch.

I have read a lot of positive comments about the New Canon 7d mkii as the best sports camera now with 10 fps and priced at around $2.000

As I am a long time Nikon user, but sometimes on the look for other options I was thinking if this new Canon would be my entry ticket to Canon. I am year by year getting more and more time for my photography and was thinking about a sports camera for next spring, and therefore looking at the new Canon 7d mk ii.

But now when I am studying this on the internet another camera with much better specs and price keep popping up on my screen. So my question is, has anyone here got the Samsung NX1? If so, how good is it.

I see it has 4K video, which is not much for me as I am rarely doing videos. But it also has 15 fps, 28 mpx sensor, three times more focus points and much lighter and slimmer plus lot of other features that the Canon has not. Plus it is $4-500 cheaper. Actually the only thing in favor of Canon here is more lenses available for the Canon.

But specs is one thing, real life use is another, so I am curious about if any members here have any experience with the Samsung NX1.

What would you recommend I buy, the Canon or the Samsung?

Actually the best sports camera is still the Canon EOS-1D X. But it costs almost $7K for the body. If you can't swing that, but can afford $1,800, then the 7DII is it.

Ok, now that you have made that clear, what glass do you recommend for the OP's friend to use ?

I made suggestions regarding primes back on page 2. If you read the thread, you would know that. I also asked for a budget to help with suggestions, however, the OP has not posted since the top of the thread.

You are the culprit; not your equipment :)

Your first photo should not had been taken with the background in sunlight and the subjects in the shade. Also, your composition is terrible.

Your second photo is out of focus and you could had used a faster shutter speed as well. Again, composition is not good :)

I suggest that you get yourself a few good books that will teach you photography and after a while, you will begin to do better !

Best of luck and Best Regards,
~Doug~

You should be using a single point focus and metering as well. In full auto the camera is evaluating everything in the frame and exposes for that. The newer iPhones and most other cell phone cameras meter off a point chosen for focus with a finger tap. Using full auto is way under utilizing your camera's capabilities.

You need to read and experiment with some of the manual modes in order to get better shots from your equipment. Once you do that, your shots will blow the iPhone away.

Assuming both cameras have the full size sensor or the same size sensor, the 70-200 f2.8 made by both Canon and Nikon are best choices due to them having zoom capabilities. If fixed lenses are the shooters priority, I'd suggest staying with focal lengths around 85mm up to 135mm..

The OP states the camera is a 7D, which is APS-C.

Digit, I will say, I desperately need the support. I used to get support from my wife but like so many other really fat old farts, I get a lot more support nowa days from this from this bra that I have to wear!!
Digit, just so you know, I have lots of hobbies, but for some reason I've been pretty much run out of town at all of them. The last straw was when NAMBLA changed the locks and wouldn't give me a key anymore!!
Then I found photography and everything started looking up. And when I got a Canon I was actually invited to join a club. Now I have dozens of friends and the bar never ends just as long as I'm buying !!

OK...

Sounds good...

As long as it was not a boy's club you were invited to join.

In the future, I will be careful not to download any of your images.

You know... laws and all of that.

OK. Another topic hijacked for boorish reasons.

May I suggest that, in the future, a gentle PM to the OP explaining how to better word a title might be more productive?

Same goes for poorly worded original posts. Like when they ask about a lens but don’t mention what camera body or budget limitations etc..

It lets them know, gives them a chance to change the title and/or question and does not distract from the issue at hand.

I admit to some of this same behavior in the past. I plan on modifying that behavior in the future.
