I'll join the repliers who have had nothing but good luck with Canon service. My 70D and SW50 were both refurbs. I have also purchased a couple S100 when they were deep discounted. The 70D had dust on the focus screen that didn't affect exposures. Canon took care of it and I had it back in about a week. I join a previous replier who suggested providing as much detail as possible in describing your issue with the lens. Good luck.

Real powerful and pleasant voice. She reeks of Amy Winehouse!
Yup, very bluesy. The Amy really comes through about 2/3 into the song. "I like it, like it a lot." Thanks for sharing bcheary!
Thanks for sharing. Antelope Canyon is a fun place to shoot. All things being equal, it's a lot about time of day.

I guess this is what you get to expect if you don't fly First Class and you want to get out of Siberia.
Them folks WERE 1st Class. By Putin's direction, all Russian passengers fly 1st Class.
The G16 manual lists all the Speedlites as being usable with the camera. Personally, I've never used one with mine. I attached both a 380ex and a 420ex on it tonight and wasn't real comfortable with either even though I doubt there'd be a problem. I would hesitate to go any larger than a 270ex or a 320ex.

That a remarkably clean desk. Mine is about 3" deep.
I suspect that if the shot panned out, we'd see what the sweeping arm put on the floor.

Again I suggest that the recipient may be only looking for a pocket style camera. That's what the average person prefers. If she's able to appreciate the extra poop of the bridge camera, then great. Unless she's a serious photographer, my guess is a higher quality pocket camera would be the preference.
I've seen S100 as low as $110 on the Canon refurb site. I picked up a SX50 for $315. Excellent buys can be had with patience. When in the hunt, hit the site daily until you see them cycle thru a sale.

Have Canon G16 and some other parts. Only problem I see so far, is that it's smaller then I thought it would be. But then again, that is what I was looking for. Still have my EOS 40D always ready with all it's lenses.
Still plan on using a flash with the G16? Another suggestion for a case is a OpTech D-Mini.
Now, that would be an air show worth attending!

I have the S100, which I got refurb at Canon, and it's great.
Not quite as pocketable, but still very compact, is the G15. It's a bargain refurb this week at Canon, for $230. OK but not great viewfinder, hotshoe, and dials. Has a great reputation for image quality. Shoots RAW, as well.
Ditto!!! Have the S100 & a G16. Both (as well as G15) are "fine" cameras. If buying Canon, always check refurbs on Canon website often.

Ditto on the lens cover. I religiously use the following: MegaGear Neoprene Camera Case Bag for Canon G16 (Amazon)
Fred A - I have a Canon Speedlite 380EX and a 420EX, both of which work fine. Also use a Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 with the the 420EX. If you buy a Canon Speedlite, be sure to check the Canon refurbished flashes before you pull the trigger. For the record, I rarely use a flash with my G16. Primarily shoot RAW in AV mode and tweak the ISO to give me a livable shutter speed. Images usually look fine. If a little dark, I adjust in Lightroom. I recommend you play with the camera without an external flash for a while. Good luck.
I have a G16. I recently bought it to complement my Canon S100 and SW50 HS. Camera is fast and responsive. Optical viewer is okay, definitely better than an electronic but could use more detail through the viewer, i.e. focus point. IQ is excellent!!! Autofocus is fast and works well as mentioned by jefren. Build quality is solid. WIFI, HDR mode work well, as well. Having the exposure adjustment dial next next to the mode dial is really handy. LCD screen is bright and informative. No USB cable but we all have plenty anyway, so no big deal. Check Canon's support site and download the manual. Lot of good info there and besides, you only get a quick guide when you buy. 28-140mm equivalent is okay (?). Would have liked a little more, but I've got the SX50 so what the heck. Lastly, it's a little pricey and doesn't show up on Canon's refurb web page yet. Sweet compact. Wouldn't exactly call it pocketable except, maybe, a coat. Buy it, you'll like it.
