I have not heard of Rachel Rice but I must say she has a great voice and she puts a lot of emotion into her singing.

Real powerful and pleasant voice. She reeks of Amy Winehouse!

Not really a "new gal." Despite her age she has been around for a while. Had a chance to meet her a few years ago when she opened for T.S. Monk in Detroit. Her program then consisted of mainly jazz standards and I was fascinated by the degree to which she had absorbed and integrated the qualities of some of the great female jazz artists such as Sarah Vaughn, Ella, and others at her young age. She has an interesting background and I quite agree that she's a real talent.

I was fortunate enough to see her and Lake Street Dive at the Green River Festival in Greenfield, Massachusetts last summer and the intensity and emotions you saw in that song is what she and the band did with everything they performed. Her voice is haunting and she seems to live each song she does, beautiful and amazing! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for that input. I had never heard of her until this week when a friend of mine sent me her link. Wished I had been at that session. There are a number of talented singers and musicians that become well known in smaller circles until they break through to the big time. A lot of them never do break through which is unfortunate for us music lovers. :(

Yup, very bluesy. The Amy really comes through about 2/3 into the song. "I like it, like it a lot." Thanks for sharing bcheary!
