MWAC I am so sorry this has happened. There always seems to be someone coming along to spoil everyone else's fun and enjoyment. I really loved your previous avator photo. It made me smile everytime I came upon a posting from you. Please, please don't leave UHH. Your lesson's were great and helped me to finally get off of full auto shooting. I completed the lessons each week but never posted. I felt my shots were just not good enough. They are getting much better now that I am using Av and Tv modes. Thanks for your help MWAC.

Do you listen to Derringer and Parker in the morning? I heard about this on their show as well.

Haven't seen this in a long time. Flew over a couple times in the 90's. Was in Kalispell Montana when she blew. We got dusted severely. We were headed to Spokane but had to head back to Canada the next day.

Flyguy, these are absolutely beautiful vistas. They make me miss my Alberta, Canada home with views of the majestic Rockies. I've been contemplating a western vacation and these photos make me want it even more.

Hi GW, I too have one of these lenses. I have not yet used it on my DSLR but now I may just try it for fun. With no option but AF the photos are not too bad. By the look of your metadata you shot in P or Auto mode. The f stop showed as 5.6 try Av mode and f8 - 11 may just sharpen these up a little more.

Groooaaaan, should have caught the "a" in inbread. Didn't know what to expect. Curiousity made me look. How do people come up with zany ideas?

Much better success than I had. I had just gotten my first DSLR, barely knew how to turn it on. Set it to Av and climbed aboard my CCGA (Canadian Coast Guard Auxilary) vessel to escort the fireworks barge to it's mooring. We sat about 300 feet from the barge for the show. I got out my camera and began shooting. Got black sky, some colourful streaks and more black sky with some coloured dots. Hand held on a bobbing boat just did not work out. Also the DSLR was second hand and the mirror lock up option was on and that really messed me up. Figured out how to turn that off the next day. But, we will do better next time, lessons learned.

Yours turned out much better than mine. I just got a new (to me) DSLR and had little time to learn any of it. I shot a lot of empty sky and streaks of fire. But shooting from a bobbing boat did not help. I hope it goes better next time.

FYI it seems to work for EOS 40D as well.
