The objections are also from hunters and wildlife viewers. All visitors to Yellowstone used to get to see hundreds of Elk in the meadows. That opportunity had been taken from my grandchildren.

Objections also come from people like me who enjoy viewing the Elk in our backyards (literally). That means the wolves can also come into our backyards and kill our Elk, dogs, and grandchildren.

Objections by people who moved into an area previously inhabited by wolves and now complain when the species is reintroduced. I was born and raised in Alaska, it was not uncommon to have bear near homes and children. It is not the fault of the bear - it is the fault of people taking over what should be the habitat of the bear. No different with Yellowstone and the surrounding area. The wild is just that, not the picture perfect postcard you would like.

The wolves in Yellowstone are important to keep. I know ranchers do not like them, but they are necessary.
Here is a video explaining why.

Actually Montgomery is just west of Conroe near Houston. I believe the Woodlands has a camera club it that is not too far.

Thank you very much for commenting, all these were taken over many years, some going back 30 years. I spent most of my vacation times traveling through Alaska, a place I never got tired of. A lot were taken on film and were scanned.

Did you ever have a chance to get off the Richardson Highway to Kennicott and photograph that area? One used to have to pull themselves in the bucket across the river to get over to the town of McCarthy and then you could head up the road to Kennicott. It is absolutely beautiful! When I was in high school we would go to Valdez for cross country ski races and back in the pass behind town you would see bushes sticking out of the snow - they were the tops of the trees, so much snow!
Thank you for sharing your talents! Absolutely stunning!

How could you leave such a gorgeous place? Even when the mosquitoes were trying to get my last drop of blood out of me, I still loved Alaska.

I would love to still be living there. Unfortunately, my husband has a career that is not sustainable in Alaska and he would never be able to handle the winters. So I have to settle on visiting every so often.

I have to agree, the 7dII would be a better choice for your indoor basketball games.

I've seen ads for bags that you can carry in back but can quickly provide access from the front. Sorry I can't be more specific.

Yes, I have seen the sling bags too. They are just not for me.

Boy, talk about timely!
I was hiking in to Trout lake in Yellowstone Park just yesterday afternoon and the guy ahead of me slipped on a patch of green grass alongside the trail and went down RIGHT ON his camera mounted in the Cotton Carrier holster he had at his side. Needless to say that is one Canon 6D and 17-40mm F4L lens that will never take another picture, they were both totally destroyed! The other 3 lenses he had in his sling type Lowepro bag were unhurt, as was the T3i back-up body he had in it, he will be finishing his stay in Yellowstone with only the crop sensor.
Boy, talk about timely! br I was hiking in to Trou... (show quote)

That is why I do not want my camera at my side. How do you carry your camera hiking? I prefer not to use a backpack because I want my camera available. I would like to find the best method. Thanks!

How does the cotton carrier protect from a fall forward? I'm trying to imagine it and come up short. If you're hiking where slips and falls are very possible, wouldn't a padded back pack (even a small one) be your best bet?

I like to have my camera available to take pictures as needed. You are right, a fall forward could be a problem. But in all my years of hiking I have not personally fallen forward.
