Beautiful shots. You've got a great set of photos and memories there.
We had the same type of trees in the Yukon as in your pygmy forest. A type of Juniper. three inch diameter and over 150 years old. Incredibly slow growth up that high.

I think it is one of the most scenic drives from Valdez to Delta Junction. On some trips I would drive both ways but I liked to take the ferry from Whittier that's also very beautiful as you might now.
