Boss Strap vs. OpTech Utility Strap

I never liked those plastic 3-pronged connectors that you see on just about everything nowadays. I've had some that become very "loose" after repeated connecting and disconnecting. I don't think I would want a lot of money hanging on those connectors. The Boss strap connector looks a lot sturdier. for the few extra dollars I would consider that "insurance". (IMHO)

The OpTech is less than half the cost, and it carries the camera by BOTH strap lugs for better security. One lug can be quickly released for active use.
I have used the OpTech straps since 1982 with never a hint of a failure. And yes, I do still use that original 1982 strap today, currently attached to a Nikon D7100 body.

I have used Op/Tech's bino-harness for some years now, to divide the weight of my camera over both shoulder. The 3-pronged connectors are disconnected every time the camera goes back into the bag, and re-connected every time I take it out. This camera is not a lightweight either, almost 5 lbs with my favourite zoom lens on it. Never had a single problem with either the strap or the connectors.
OTOH, and here I'm speaking in my "role" as dressmaker, I have used the clasps as shown on the boss-strap, for children's clothing (mostly belts and suspenders), both the plastic and the metal clasps. I found that often in less than a year the clasp became 'loose' and not much after that, it didn't need help from myself or my children to come undone.
Because of that, my bet is with the Op/Tech straps.
I use an Optech with one clip wrapped in Velcro in case the clip fails on a D5200 with a 55-300 Nikon.

  I too have never had a problem with those type of connectors. Op/Tech, the best!!

I didn't think of wrapping the connector in velcro, that is a good idea.

I use two BR straps modified to use the strap lugs via OpTech Adapt-It connectors and the BR carabiners:
Per the OpTech website:
I've bee using OpTech camera straps for over two years after MT Shooter recommended them. I have a single and a double and an Extension. I have never looked back.

I have that Bosstrap and love it. No trouble with the connector. I had a Rapidblack RS-7 and did not like it because it had the large contoured shoulder pad. It never stayed on my should contrary to their videos. It was always getting in my way and a general nuisance. It also took up a lot of room in my case. I see that the Op-Tech has a similar pad.
The Bosstrap has a plain strap that is very soft and comfortable. It never gets in the way and is very compact in my case. All things considered, I would go again with the Bosstrap instead of the Op-Tech. It is more expensive but to me, worth it.

I buy Velcro in various sizes in bulk rolls. It comes in handy for lots of things.

I carry the exact same camera and lens around, most of the time, without the clip wrapped in velcro and never had the slightest hint of a problem with my OpTech sling.

I have the OP/TECH and really like it. I have not had it very long but I used it around 8 hours a day over 5 days last week and it is comfortable.
