Nice photo, the two having a civilized discussion. Wouldn't expect that from the Jay.

It look more like the Philly skyline from somewhere in New Jersey looking across the Delaware.

The EOS 5D mk III is a really nice camera. I personally never got one. For full frame I was using the EOS 6D and was seriously considering a 5D mk III but instead picked up a 5D SR. I eventually decided, even as great a camera as the 5D SR is, it is not a good general purpose camera; too slow, too much of a light hog, way too finicky and the RAW image files are too large. I saved up my cigarette money (ever since I quit smoking years ago, I set aside the money I would have spent on cigarettes to buy photography gear) and eventually purchased a 5D mk IV. Best of luck with your new camera, you will definitely enjoy using it. By the way, 111 is one hundred eleven and 11 is eleven, III and II are the roman numerals for three and two. Again, enjoy the new camera…

The filter material used for telescopes is the same as used for telephoto lenses. Two of my filters are specifically designed for telescopes and they work great on my telephoto lenses.

I believe folks write to get their thoughts out quickly, much like speaking. Few people in conversation consider grammar a priority.

What annoys and saddens me is listening to news anchors or documentary film makers consistently use improper grammar: these people have a plethora of writers and time to consider their content. Yet they, as highly educated publicly speaking "experts", regularly misuse the language and mislead millions of viewers by re-enforcing poor grammar.

True that... my pet peeve is the way many people pronounced nuclear. Its pronounced as it's spelled, not nuquler as the dummy in the WH says.

Before you criticize others, you may wish to check YOUR own punctuation and word usage. You could use some improvement in those areas. LOL

My sleep habits as well. But Siriusly (woof, woof) what does one expect from someone who got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and needed to write a little satire to get back to sleep. I should have grabbed a camera and tripod and tried to get a shot of the perseids.

I'm just curious how many people read what they wrote prior to pressing send. I'm curious because I read so many posts that are riddled misspelled words, misplaced punctuation, too much punctuation, or that simply make little to no sense. I don't know, maybe it's because there is a high population of folks here far older than I, (I graduated high school when Richard Nixon was president of the USA), and maybe their visual acuity isn't what it used to be. Far to often I read posts that contain way, to, many, commas, or run on sentences that really don't convey much of a message in the first place but instead just use a whole lot of words strung together that are more filler than are useful or meaningful in relation to the point being made or questions being asked. Could it be this post is simply the result of myself waking up in the middle of the night and desperately needing a way to bore myself back to sleep?!
While I'm on this soap box, I often wonder if many people actually read what others have posted in response to an OP'S original post? I wonder if posters who leave 500 line dissertation realize the average person doesn't read past their third sentence so all the run on effort was just a waste of time and typing. I mean for goodness sakes, it's and electronic bulletin board, not a shared version of Kindle.
I hear my pillow calling, time to go back to bed. It was nice chatting; good night...

If the dot in the first image between the cloud lines is what you believe to be a sun spot then, yes, you are correct. I photographed the sun this evening, using a solar filter, around 7ish pm eastern time and there was one large sun spot in the same location. Don't you just love the colors during a horizon rise?!

There is no Canon 6t, there is a 6D and 6D mk II and T6i T6s and T6 which is the current base model. I to have an A1. You may want to look at the Canon SL2 also, it's the smallest DSLR available. I personally do not own any of the Canon Rebel Tn series cameras, I do have an SL1. If it's in the budget I recommend the 80D, it is a really nice camera. Of my crop frame bodies, the 80D is the one I use most often with telephoto lens for photographing birds followed by my 7D mk II. What I like best about Canon's system is the incredible selection of lenses available, both new and used plus I personally feel Canon cameras are easier to learn and use. I do own Nikon DSLR'S and lenses also.

Good morning. I agree with you. The horizon set is definitely my favorite time of day, especially when I'm at the coast.

Interesting, kind of an unnatural color though. With the darker solar filters I have, sunspots are visible, the color is natural and there's no colorful halo. But then the welders mask filter does work and they are a whole lot less expensive. A good alternative for those who are interested only in photographing the eclipse.

Your camera does not focus to infinity, your lens does. You should have at least a 500 mm lens or bigger to get decent eclipse photos. You will need an intervolometer to do time lapse but don't worry, they cost around $25 for a decent one. If you have already done moon shots then you have a handle on focusing for the eclipse. Make a note the focus point when focused on the moon, this is where you set the lens to photograph the eclipse. Make sure your filter is certified Solar Filter, not a ND filter. It also helps if you have solar sun glasses for when you are not looking thru the lens. Practice beforehand, it is hard finding the sun in the black view finder. Good luck and be careful, the sun can and will burn ones retinas in a very very short time.
