When I was testing my new gear these days. I also used my "old" gear to do some shootings. Here are from my old gear. Thanks!

A variety of birds, large and small. The pink Galah's are parent and young feeding. Galah's are the most appropriately named birds as their antics are always a source of wonderment. Feeding the young is no exception with much squawking and flapping of wings, by both birds, the job somehow gets done. It is near impossible to capture a Galah in flight as they dip and weave for no apparent reason.
The little pied cormorant, on the other hand, is an excellent swimmer and rarely surfaces without a fish. The trick here is to know where one will surface.
The Yellow breasted robin is a very early riser and has a call far in excess of it's size. In the bush you will be a wake well before dawn thanks to this little fellow.
The White Plumed Honeyeater is from western Queensland and that's about all I know of it.

Tried my new Nikkor 500mm F5.6E PF again with Nikon D850. Here are some of the photos of Wood peckers in my yard. The last one was taken with Nikkor 800mm and D850. Thanks!

Sacramento Wildlife Refuge, Nikon D500, with Nikon 200-500 f/5.6 lens very early in morning. Shot from car into ditch where egret was hunting. I had no control over background, other than camera settings, nor was I able to get out of the car. Shot at 1/2000 and f/5.6. Processed in LR and PS. I think an appropriate title could be "Yum, Yum." Actually I've learned that egrets, and most likely other similar birds, simply gulp their victims whole and alive, not a nice thought! This bug suffered that fate.

All new from Monday of this week. The Sacramento NWR is brimming with hawks right now. We saw at least 7 eagles but none of them were close enough to photograph. However, the hawks below were very cooperative.

Great shots!

I’ve posted shots of this osprey before. He’s so fun to photograph as he is consistently perched in this tree. I feel like I should name him! The western bluebird is a frequent visitor and tropical kingbird is a bit harder to find. The cedar waxwings are one of my favorite birds! The northern mockingbird is around frequently, and we have quite a few buffleheads right now.

Super photos!

Curious, how long did you have to wait for your 500 pf lens?

Really nice. I know you love that combo of lens and camera.

Thanks! I will try this with my Nikon D850 later and also compare it with my Nikkor 800mm.
