I'd speculate that a high percentage of UHH members in the USA know the gas cap is behind the taillight. I personally pumped gasoline into several cars like that in my youth. I can also believe the youth of today would have no clue where the gas filler is and many, especially the ones with cigarettes hanging out of their mouths, aren't clever enough to figure it out.

Graduated ND filters are far more convenient but single filters are said to produce better results, you just need more of them. I have a really nice graduated filter and I have no complaints with the results. It was fairly expensive.

I have a G1X II and I've used it to record concerts and I use it to take photographs. It does a darn good job at both, especially for an oversized pocket camera. I've also done both with my SX60HS. The end results are also pretty good although not as good as the larger sensor G1X II. The audio from the G1X II is also pretty good.

Hmm both of those lenses mentioned are heavy lenses for the camera bodies mentioned. Is it possible that the lens mount or mechanism that holds the lenses is not adequate when walking with the lens pointed down? Too much weight?

On all my large heavy lenses, the strap is attached to the lens not the camera body. This is why the lens manufacturers put attachment points on the heavier lenses. You support the camera with the lens, not the lens with the camera.

I cant understand why you would use letters instead of numbers. It's the same number of keystrokes. If you are looking for a telephone number, that is what you would expect to see....numbers.

I've never been to the UK but I'm pretty sure most telephones there are just like or very similar to telephones her in the USA. If you take a close look at the phone dial you will notice that the numbers 2 thru 9 are also represented by letters. 1 is also a or b or c, 2 is d or e or f. This pattern continues all the way to 9 or x, y, z.

Many years ago, phone numbers were represented by letters and numbers. For example NIagra 4 was the same as 644. The phone companies did away with that scheme years ago but the advertising world still uses the letters because certain combinations of letters are easier to remember than numbers, like GOFEDEX or 1800GOFEDEX. It's really quite simple.

Interesting, this is not the first time I've heard or read about this happening. Not even the first time I've read about it here on UHH.
I've tried to simulate this with both Canon and Nikon bodies and different size lenses and as hard as I've tried, I could not get the lens to detach. I'd say the odds are far greater there was human error at play than mechanical failure.

The UV filter has no effect on a digital camera so it is pretty much irrelevant when you use it. A polarizer is used to eliminate glare and make the sky bluer. Use it in bright daylight especially when shooting highly reflective surfaces. Also, try using Bing or Google. There's a vast wealth of knowledge out there in the interweb.

Yes it is sometimes very nice to have the video option and a good camera surely delivers better video than iphone.
As some have stated here the Nikon D500 is the top of the line crop sensor camera from Nikon that has replaced the D300.
The D7200 is also a very good camera but if I were you and planing an upgrade I would go for the D7500. It is the best value for money in Nikon DX camera today and can do everything you already do with the D300 and a lot more, including 4k video.

If you get the D7500 with the 16-80 kit lens bundle then I'd say it's the best value for the money. If you're not interested in that lens but want all the features, bells and whistles Nikon offers on a DX body then the best option for the money is the D500. It's simply a better camera...

IMHO shooting video with a DSLR is only something you do when no video camera is available. The physical design of the DSLR makes it hard to shoot good video. It's great if you can put it on a tripod and not have to focus or zoom. If you see someone professionally shooting video with a DSLR they will have it on a frame with an external screen and a stabilizer rig. Even then you can't really change the zoom without wiggling the whole thing and the sound is almost unusable because of the internal noise of the shutter.
IMHO shooting video with a DSLR is only something ... (show quote)

When the Canon 5D II was introduced it was all the rage with vidiographers because of its video capabilities. It essentially made video camcorders the second choice in many situations. Many professional vidiographers use high end DSLR'S in conjunction with camcorders to make movies and documentaries and TV shows because they offer advantages the larger bulkier camcorders do not. I personally use my 5D IV to shoot 4K video quite often and I have no problem with internal noise. As far as the shutter making noise while shooting video, uh, the shutter opens, you shoot the video, the shutter closes. What noise are you referring to? Plus, ever heard of external microphones?! I use them all the time when I shoot video, they work really well. DSLR video has come a long way since it's birth in 2008/2009 and it continues to improve. By the way, lots of professional vidiographers shoot video with a handheld DSLR, it all depends on what and where they are shooting.

IMO, the only thing good about an OVF is if you are doing BIF or similar high speed follow action .....

OVF doesn't drain the battery.

USPS does deliver on Sunday. The USPS Special Delivery is called Priority Mail Express; nothing happened to it.

I agree, Fed EX is the worst. Anyone shipping with them is taking a chance. If they damage, destroy or lose your package, even if insured, they will pay you less than half it's value and that is after fighting with them for hours on end. And try to get something done about it; they are protected to the hilt from every direction.

I will never ship with them as long as I live!

Anyone shipping with any carrier is taking a chance. When you ship with a common carrier you sign a contract. They are bound to that contract as the shipper and you as the shippee. All packages are insured to a certain amount. If you want additional insurance on a shipment you must purchase it. It is all very simple.

Many folks don't add their location because they believe it protects them. Protects them from what I don't know. My listed location is southeastern and southcentral PA because my home is in Chester county PA and my home away from home is in Lancaster County PA. I have no fear of some crazed hog tracking me down based on my location, it's just not realistic. I believe it is nice to know what part of the world the folks one is conversing with are located.

Welcome to the forum. For the money, two good choices for a superzoom bridge camera are Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ70K and Canon SX60HS. Neither camera will give you the same performance of a DSLR or mirrorless but they still do a pretty good job. I have the SX60HS and it is easy to learn and use and has many of the features its ILC cousin's have and a new one is well under $500.
