Either are just fine. I order most of my stuff through Amazon, and have bought things at the Dodd Camera store. You might get a small variation in price, but generally very small, a few dollars. The stores are required to post vendor "list prices". It wasn't long ago, perhaps 2 years, that places like Amazon were 5% or so less than a camera store, but no longer. Most offer free shipping.

You might want to consider used equipment, but remember, you will not get the warranty, as most of the used equipment is out of warranty.

If you want a Canon 20D, heck, I would sell you one for a couple hundred, no warranty though. Works fine. I stepped up to the 5D, so my 20D is not used at all.

Lobbyists control tens to hundreds of $billions. The lobbyists influence policy, which in turn influences where the tax money is spent.

Sandisk Extreme Pro, 160 mb is a great SD card. I recently bought the 16GB. Last I checked the prices had come down on Amazon. Not sure if this was a promo price or permanent price reduction. Why? Well, I have the 5D MK3 and it gets real slow when I do HDR, particularly using a setting of 7 shots. The Extreme Pro helped a lot.

Unless you are buying a lot of cards, the extra price is worth it.

Great to see the push back. All presidents end up spending a lot for their transportation and security. The next president will too, unless they completely stop going on trips, vacation or not. Plus, you have to separate fixed cost versus variable. There is a flight crew on duty 24/7 for the helicopter and AF1. There are also secret service available 24/7. The plane, is always there, flying or not, so the depreciation, time based maintenance, cleaning etc., occur whether the plane flies or not.

Yes, speed may be an issue. But the way, Amazon just cut the prices on their memory cards. I don't know if it is a short term sale or permanent price change so check it out today.

Mostly hard drives work for ever, internal or external, but once in a while they do not, and with all the important stuff, including pictures, people have on computers these days, back ups are incredibly important. I actually double back up. My first back up is automatic, backs up to an external drive daily. Then about 1/week, I back up all my files manually to another hard drive.

Now, here is the important thing, keep your hard drives in a place where there is no chance for water damage, or even fire. I got home the other day only to find out that a water pipe ruptured above the ceiling tile in my basement office. My hard drives were fine, as they were on the other side of the room where there are no water pipes. But I did lose a computer printer. So, make sure your drives are in a place where water damage is basically impossible.

Exactly, as one said, cotton lobbyists are being threatened. The other group threatened are the ones making what is called spunlace, the cloth that many baby wipes are made of (not to be confused with airlaid pulp based fiber). Spunlace is also in diapers, fem care products too. This material is made from plastic fibers (polyester).

If the dog had a "tag" saying it was a legit service dog, then I think the law requires access. I would certainly sue. But if the dog is not licensed as a service dog, but the owner just says the dog is a service dog, then I think it is within the establishments right to refuse. I would obviously look at the person. If they have an obvious handicap, let the person in, otherwise the person is probably just wanting to let their dog sleep in the hotel room.

My daughter had this situation at her hospital, a person walked in the lobby and wanted to go visit someone in a room, and said her dog was a service dog. No tags, no obvious handicap, so they hospital refused, and asked the person to leave.

An extra $500. Looking at the comparison specs I certainly would not upgrade if I had the 800. If I were to buy new, it would be a hard decision. Many of the upgrades are in video mode, which I rarely use.

No matter, I have too much invested in Canon lenses. When is Canon coming out with the 5D Mk4?

Get the app Freememory pro. I use it quite frequently, as the ram gets pretty full quickly with only 4gb. I can't put any more in my vintage Mac pro either. And even with 16 gb, it can happen. What happens is even though you might close out a photo or program, sometimes there is still stuff in ram. Freememory cleans it out quickly, like 10 seconds, and will will get back about 2 gb of ram. More if you are using 16.

Yep, good move installing 16 GB. Unfortunately my old laptop will only take 4. But I do have the Imac which has 16. I would love to get the new Imac which will take 32. Makes a huge difference in performance particularly with big RAW files.

Very good picture, as cmc4214 said, you may have just sold a few Nikons for Nikon. Even I am impressed, and I have the Canon 5d mk3. I really struggled with getting the 5d versus the Nikon D800. It came down to having so many lenses for the Canon that I accumulated. I am really thinking of selling several of the lenses and using that money to buy the Nikon D800 plus a lens or two. I also have a Canon 5dMK2 and a Canon 20D I could sell. I don't use either of these anymore. Where did I get all this stuff? my brother in law was an avid photographer, with plenty of money. He unfortunately passed away, and my sister had no interest in cameras, so she gave me all of it for a very good price. I wouldn't take it for nothing just because.
