Why not. The older ones may not have the capacity to hold alot of the image's from the dslr since the file sizes may be larger. Check the manual and see what the mfr. recommends. As long asit is the same type of card, I don't see a problem.

Sure, just format them in your new camera before you use them.

Yes, but consider the write speed.

Yes, speed may be an issue. But the way, Amazon just cut the prices on their memory cards. I don't know if it is a short term sale or permanent price change so check it out today.

Could be low speed like class 4 or such but they also store pictures well just video not so good. Best to use class 10 for all pictures and videos.

Seems cards are the favorite sale item at Best Buy. You might want to take a look.

Yes, the new cameras are backward compatible. But... older cards are Class 4 or less, so their in/out speeds are much slower than the Class 6 on up cards you should use in a dSLR so your "ready for the next shot" times are faster. The old ones are much smaller is storage capacity, typically being less than 2GB.

If you want to carry them around as spares "just in case" that's okay, but there's no logical reason to use less than an 8GB Class 10 SDHC card in a dSLR when they're available for $8 to $10 most anywhere.

I have some 256MB and 512MB cards around here somewhere in my desk but I wouldn't think of wasting the time to find them except maybe to use one to take some edited photos down to Walgreens or CVS in my pocket to try to get one of their damned Kodak kiosk printers to work - which is usually not the case.

I see no reason why older SD cards can't be used on a new camera. Once the card has been formatted for the current camera, and the images erased, it's ready for a lot of new images.
