I PREFER THE OLD FORMAT.
Can anything be done to return to it?

I would urge everyone, especially doubters, to take Emil Pakarklis's course on iPhone photography. It might not change your mind about cell phone photography but it sure will open your eyes to its capabilities. You will be surprised at what can be done with this little "non-camera."

We do seem to overlook the ADVANTAGES of our Smartphones:
1. Instantly communicating ALL images to the CLOUD. [BACKUP]
2. IMMEDIATE Audience.
Instantly email/post our work to a wide audience.
3. Built in location information for each shot.
4. More acceptable at performance venues. Many ought right BAN "Professional Cameras with Interchangeable Lenses"
5. Less threatening form factor for Street Photography.
6. Built-in PP capabilities often FREE!
7. Wide range of Camera Options on current Models.
8. Lightweight & portable.
9. Availability of rugged cases
[Otter Box, etc]
10. Wide range of cost-effective accessories [tripod mounts, lenses etc.]

Anything I missed?

11. Convenience. Almost everyone has it with them almost always.

Without the best equipment, we're only as good as everyone with a phone.

The "Troll Master" is at it again. I'll bite. So you're saying that ONLY the best equipment is better than a phone? That's simply not true and you know it. As someone wiser than me once said, "The best camera is the one you have with you."

Many UHH members (including yourself) have posted informative threads about photography. The fact that there's a place for them here is proof that UHH is more than a social site. The fact that it's also a place for learning is one of the more valuable aspects to it, and that's something that a lot of people here appreciate.

The very first line of the "Photo Gallery" rules:

This section is for posting pictures you took. If you want to ask others to comment on your choice of subjects, composition, settings, show off your pictures to others, or ask for general critique, then please do so in the Photo Gallery section.

Hope that explains things. The rules for each section are at the top of the first page for that section!!!!

Please point to the rule that says criticism and/or critiques are not allowed.

~ So, today someone posted a flower image (one of many - every day, and I'm also guilty). The Poster was VERY proud of their image and said so in the Title and Body of the text in their post. I personally was not enamored with how the image was processed, so I refrained from posting my thoughts on said image.
...However, one poster actually did post, that while it was a very nice image, in his/her opinion was a bit over-saturated (even stating it was still a nice image)! Oh, My!! What a Faux Pas that was!! The original poster tore that person up in no uncertain terms! How DARE that someone have an opinion of his/her work other than Praises from On High!!
~ So, I'm just curious. Why is the Photo Gallery Off Sides to Any critical review? I DO understand that there is a critique section on UHH. So, then, do we always have to Ooooo and Aaahh at images in the Photo Gallery? We must all support images good or bad and save all our Heart Emojis and Thumbs - Up's for images that are borderline if not outright poorly done? I know for a fact that my own images need a lot of work, so I'm def not the Golden Boy/Girl here!

Anybody?

If anyone's ego is that fragile, we should pay no attention to their rants. Carry on.

I’ve used IrfanView to resize photos. It is a freeware program and has add ons for free also.

I use this as well. It is a great program (sometimes you get more than what you pay for).

I also use the resize function in Paint.

Isn't that their problem/misfortune?

Admin (or someone) posted an announcement when it was created.
That's how I knew about it.

People interested in AI will view it.
People who despise AI will ignore it.

People who don't care one way or the other will also ignore it.

Well - K9 I'm not, but often think our pets can be better people than we are . Merlin (Tactical Call Sign) was bestowed by my base commander during a deployment to San Vito, Italy in '97. I was base medical officer, and the Boss accused me of practicing medical magic during my tour there after diagnosing and successfully treating several 'wierd' illnesses.

I have been doing monthly shoots of my almost 2 year old Great-Grandson since he was born, and his parents will only allow sharing with Family. It's so frustrating because they're really quite good. (And he is so adorable!) I use Dropbox to share.
Imagine my surprise when I got a private message from Facebook with some of my pictures, offering to post them. How did Facebook have access to my files? Of course I declined, but it was scary!

I have had a similar experience. Facebook and Google seem to be able to access files and folders that have nothing to do with them. They can deny it until the cows come home but the evidence is out there. Privacy is no longer possible in our digital world.
