Given the fact that AI images are NOT photographs, should they even be allowed to be posted on a "Photographic Site" like Ugly Hedgehog?

That's a very good question.
I think we all enjoy seeing the images but in the truest sense they are not photographs and probably should have their own category.
I look forward to seeing what others have to say.

There is a section here for AI, called AI Artistry and Creation. It IS segregated:
https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/s-143-1.html

Or do y'all want AI banned because it isn't "real photography".
Maybe they should change the name of the site to "Imaging Forum".......

Isn't that their problem/misfortune?

Admin (or someone) posted an announcement when it was created.
That's how I knew about it.

People interested in AI will view it.
People who despise AI will ignore it.

Really, that's the best the hen house has to cluck about this weekend? This social site isn't even really a photography site, so who cares about the occasional image, and its source ....

In case you hadn't noticed that is a topic that has had a lot of play here recently. There, I gave you your straight line and I hope it causes you to generate the one liners you are so famous for

Oh. Yes. Let’s not forget the “its not a real camera” nonsense. Or the “it cant be a real photo unless its SOOC”.
I will use whatever tools are available to make the best photo possible. If someone doesn’t like it, then that’s their problem, not mine.

Your use of AI in the Digital Artistry section informed me of your intent. It will be interesting to see what opinions come out to play

Linda, who is one of the Moderators of the Digital Artistry Forum was willing to accept my AI composites. I have only posted one pure AI picture, and will probably never post another, and that was to demonstrate the capability of MidJourney and not my own skills

But your incorporation of AI with the images you have available works well and the final results are very nice.

We take photos to show others what we saw. Why bring AI into the photo and lie about what we photographed? Be honest about your photography.

Presenting an image and not saying anything is not lying.

If one purports it to be something that it is not, that's lying.

If someone makes an incorrect inference, the originator is not lying,
the viewer is incorrectly inferring.

Perception....

Your openning line is a false premise.
