Man,those are nice pictures. Where I live, along the Yellowstone River etc. they are very plentiful. I think the whole state they are common.
All along the highways etc. there are Osprey nests on the top of power poles and poles that were put up to keep them from the power poles .

Every year they come back in the spring.

Again, those are the best Osprey pics I have seen.

Actually, it is a Eurasian Collared Dove, a relative newcomer to the US. It is said that it entered the US through the Southeastern US and in a few years it has basically overpopulated the US they don't migrate like the Mourning Dove and they are not recognized as a game bird and there are no seasons on them as far as hunting them goes.
Once they get established, some people say they are pests. Since their arrival the Pigeon population has decreased greatly. Also, they are not protected, they are considered vermin!
The are bigger than a Mourning Dove and are very vocal---especially early in the morning.
I have never seen one of the South West Ring Necked Doves, but my fiends that are from there say they are not the same. I will see if I can find some pics of some. When they first started showing up here I fed them and soon there were too many to keep up with. I have pics of one that is almost white, but most of them are a dull grey/brown and all have large square tailfeathers.
That is what I have found out about them and I think I am at least close with my info. PersonallyI think they are neat birds.

The first airplane of any kind I flew on was a Frontier Airlines DC-3 out of Denver Co. to Billings Mt. ln 1964. I was going to school in Denver, it was the cheapest way home at $20.00 student discount (standby).
We landed at several airfields in Wyoming going each way. I think the trip took 5 hrs--one way.
In 67-71 I saw the CH-47 gunships many times which were as stated as above ,Spooky and Puff the Magic Dragon.
There are still many of the commercial DC-3s flying in foreign countries.
I remember boarding them from the rear and basically climbing to your seat.
My 33 months in Viet Nam were in C-130 Hercules acft. a larger cousin. This is a picture f the Spooky that the Australian Air Force flew in Viet Nam.

The more I look at it, it looks more like a young Mountain Lion than a Fox due to the shape of its nose and the markings.

I think it is a moth that has just emerged from it's cocoon. It's wings haven't formed yet and are still moist.
Sometimes they don't form due to other reasons also and dry that way.

Nice pics. They look like you must live near where I live. Looks like the Pine Crest area especially with that bluff across the Yellowstone. Am I close?
Anyway, it looks like my part of Montana.

I may be wrong, but all of the Crossbills I have ever seen look like these!
Of course, nobody ever told me what they are, I just assumed that.
My pictures aren't near as good as yours!

Great picture, we have a lot of them around here and during the summer we find these little wet looking holes in our yard. Especially near the root systems of the neighbors huge cottonwood tree. At first I thought--nightcrawler holes, but realized they were made by Flickers and their long tongues!
Now I know what their tongues look like.
Thanks for helping me understand how they eat all of the ants under those trees.

I know this isn't a technical camera answer, but when looking through your view finder, have you tried both eyes to see if you see the same thing? I had the same problem with things being blurry when using my right eye, since I am right handed and shoot right handed. Well due to a floater in my right eye which isn't always visible, I now use my floater free left eye and my view finder is perfectly clear!
Wouldn't it be something if I have the cure?

Nice pictures of something I have never seen.
I can see a road-trip in my near future.
Thanks for the inspiration
