Last evening my wife and I were enjoying happy hour on our patio when this little guy came through our backyard and stopped to check us out. My camera gear was inside but my wife got this image with her phone. The question is what is it? I saw it in profile and thought immediately it was a young fox but I never did see its tail. Pointy nose and erect ears are what I noticed first. We’ve asked friends on FB what they think and the opinion is split between fox and bobcat with one vote for a juvenile mountain lion. They have been seen in our area.
So, what does everyone think?

It has the look of a juvenile mountain lion. Bobcats typically have a coat with dark markings. See picture here of a bobcat near my cabin.

Sweet shot, whoever it is! My guess would be fox, too. However, it doesn't look quite right to be any of the three you mentioned. Mystery creature.

The nose profile like like a little cougar, wide.
Fox snouts are longer and narrower.

I'm going to change my ID. Muzzle is too short and the facial markings do not match any fox I have seen. I think it's a Mountain Lion

It has the muzzle of a cat. Not sure what kind.

The more I look at it, it looks more like a young Mountain Lion than a Fox due to the shape of its nose and the markings.
