Thanks for the feed back. That seems to be the consensus on this lens from all the research I've read.

I was wondering what your thoughts are of this new RF lens? Please respond if you have working knowledge of this lens. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I decided to rent a Canon 24-70 f/2.8 for my EOS R and took it on vacation this past week. I can say that the lens is amazing and tack sharp when mounted on a tripod. However, As I don't have the steadiest of hands, I found that my keeper rate was only about 45%. With that being said, can anyone tell me how the Tamron 24-70 F/2.8 G2 performs on the EOS R? All my current lenses have VC and after my latest venture with the Canon 24-70 I realize that it is a necessity for me. Any recommendations and/or advice would be welcome. Thanks.

I have the 7Dmk II and thought it would be more beneficial to have the 24-70 2.8 II as I could use it on both cameras. I also have the 70-200 2.8 II so the extra reach that I would loose by not getting the 24-105 would not be an issue. I was hoping that the image quality between the 2 lens would be similar. Thank you for responding.

I just returned from a 10 day Florida vacation where I used the EOS R for the first time exclusively. (took my 7D MK2 but it stayed in my bag ). I Have to say the camera is nothing short of amazing. I know the camera got mixed reviews but I'm here to tell you that this camera is a joy to use. There was a bit of a learning curve but in a few days I was feeling comfortable with the controls and operation of the camera. I bought the body w/adjustable control ring and used them with both FF and crop lens and was pleased with the results from both.(Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS EF II USM & Sigma 17-55mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM lens). I'm looking forward to picking up the RF 24-105 when it becomes available. The attached photo was taken handheld, 1/4 sec. ISO 40,000, F 4 with the sigma 17-55 lens. I know its not a great photo but considering it was pitch black (and I had to spot the location with a night scope at Animal Kingdom) I was pretty impressed. I'm gonna close by saying please don't judge a camera or any camera equipment for that matter without getting it in your hands and trying it out first. I'm excited to add this camera to my bag and look forward exploring it to its full potential.

I decided to go with the EOS R over the 5D MK IV and have no regrets at all. I use a 7D MK II for all my sports and wildlife shooting (Airshows / BIF) and absolutely love that camera. I was facing the same dilemma when choosing a FF camera. I'm not a professional photographer so the issues that everyone complained about such as Dual card slots and inferior video didn't matter so much to me. I can say that the EOS R is a fantastic camera. All my lens are "L" type and they adapt to the camera flawlessly. I love the fact that WYSIWYG. The evf and flip screen are extremely crisp and clear. The battery life is definitely better than canon advertises. I have shot 850+ images on one battery. I can go on and on about this camera but you have to decide if it will fit into what and how you intend to use it. I can so that if i had went with the 5D MK IV the learning curve would have been much easier as the 7D MK II & the 5D MK IV are almost identical as far as layout and functionality. It didn't take me very long to get comfortable shooting with the EOS R. I cant wait until the new lens are available. I understand they are outstanding as well. You cant go wrong either way. Good luck with you decision!

I appreciate the quick reply John. The issue is weather to set the target at the crop magnification distance or not. (100-400mm vs 160-640 canon 1.6 crop) Would you set the target at 32' (400 equivalent) or 65' (640 equivalent) for the long end.

Great article on micro adjustment. Do you multiply the crop factor when adjusting a crop sensor Camera? I've read yes and no.

Wow. How beautiful is that. Great job. Would you mind telling us less experienced students the process and gear used to take such an amazing shot. You obviously have a great eye/imagination for composing such a photo. Again, GREAT JOB!!!

Great shots. The 2nd shot is tack sharp. Love it. I've had the opportunity to shot a few Air Shows and really enjoyed it. The Thunderbirds were in Baltimore for "Fleet Week" (Oct 6-7). I was able to get some great shots as well from a friend of mines roof top deck just a few blocks from Ft. Henry. What gear do you use? Keep shooting. Great work.

Thanks. I know right! I am very impressed with the gear. Canon lenses may be pricey but they sure are sharp.
