Tamron 24-70 F2.8 G2 on EOS R

I decided to rent a Canon 24-70 f/2.8 for my EOS R and took it on vacation this past week. I can say that the lens is amazing and tack sharp when mounted on a tripod. However, As I don't have the steadiest of hands, I found that my keeper rate was only about 45%. With that being said, can anyone tell me how the Tamron 24-70 F/2.8 G2 performs on the EOS R? All my current lenses have VC and after my latest venture with the Canon 24-70 I realize that it is a necessity for me. Any recommendations and/or advice would be welcome. Thanks.

The Tamron G2 version works great so long as it has had its required firmware update. Stabilization is superb with it, as is the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 ART OS lens.
