"A raw file is just the data collected by the sensor in the camera, nothing more or less."
It's a little more than that. It's the most complete data information available from your camera. This data really cannot be improved on. It can be modified so the end result looks better, but it's still the best data.
I could calculate ground speed from air speed and wind speed back in grade school. I loved math as a kid. I came across my dad's RCAF notebooks (during WW2, he was a navigator for part of it) and he explained these to me. I could even use Pythagorean theorem and calculate (manually) the square root. Calculators were not common 65 years back. Later I learned to use the Cosine law... The vector summation of the air speed and the wind velocity (as a vector) gives the ground speed(as a vector). GPS can determine ground speed.
"Boeing has been getting lots of negative press for years"
and for reason... they have caused hundreds of deaths with impunity.
That's what I say, the problem is systemic. Until it's fixed, it will continue.

There's nothing on the horizon that appears that it will improve... I can still think of the dinosaurs remarking, "My, what a beautiful meteorite."

According to scientists, the future doesn't look very rosy - because of AI.
Not just because of AI. I think she is being a little short sighted.
Climate change and much more extreme weather. What we are experiencing may just be the beginning of a much more intense weather conditions.
The potential geopolitical implications of millions of 'starving people' and their need to migrate to places that can feed them.
Government social programs that require funding as a population ages and is not replenished by younger people.
Current political instability in the world.
...and the list goes on.
The problem is worse... it's a systemic failure. There is a total lack of accountability. There can be a condo failure in Florida, and 100 people are killed, several hundred killed from Boeing air crashes, and no one's feet are held to the fire.
Company boards are pressing for ever increasing profits and there is no downside for their action. They, and those they employ, have to be held criminally responsible for their decisions. Only when this type of result occurs will you notice an improvement.
Without getting political, one of the few legitimate reasons for a government is to look after the long term interests of the people; they have failed in this regard. To reiterate, the problem is systemic.
Being an engineer, I really like the old barns but not in the same sense. I'm always impressed by the joinery for the timberframed structures. Somewhere in my collection of pictures, I have photos of the early timber connections, hand hewn timbers, etc. I had photos of a couple of dozen timberframed barns. One old barn, the main floor beams were 14"x 16" w timbers x 75' long. I've encountered wall cladding that was 1" boards x 32" wide. That's where the marvel is.
I generally refer to them as directories, and I treat them as files (just special files with specific attributes)... just old school... but, occasionally refer to them as folders. They are called folders because of the Window 'folder' icon, I suspect.
Have you checked to see that they are not recoverable. Put you hard drive down, don't touch it and talk to a geek... just because they have been deleted doesn't mean they are gone... in particular with a HDD.
I really liked the A6000... I bought it, almost, by accident and was thrilled with this tiny 'perfect' camera. I needed a quick replacement camera. I didn't know at the time that it was part of a whole A6nnn series. I eventually settled in on the A6400. I'd never encountered so many features in such a tiny camera, and I did my work correctly, the photos were great. When I bought it, it was a 'perfect' camera.
That sounds like early computer hardware manuals.
When I download manuals, I review them and highlight important information. I do this before I buy the hardware.
