I've bought this lens last year, took it on two trips. Anyone out here interested in an outright buy or an even trade for a Nikon 18-200 AFS DX VRII.
The Sigma is in mint condition, has all the accessories and boxes, including a B&W ultra slim haze filter.
Please PM if you are interested.
Thank you
Claude

My last 4 travel books have been made by Picaboo. Normal costs after deducting coupon and sales, $50-100.
The last one quite a big book. Like their lay-flat (optional) and also the quality of the larger prints.
I will look into Blurb and Shutterfly to see what they offer and might give them a try. SO far I am happy with the books I order from Picaboo, and the have periodic offers like $35 for a $100, which makes them quite affordable.

Well these pictures go back to 2004-2005, currently using D500, but now I realize that they were in iPhoto before, I just transferred them to a ext. HD and then quite a lot won't transfer back to the Photos in the new iMac.
Could the date have corrupted in the process?

I must confess my photo library is a mess and needs a fix now. I know there is a large amount of grey matter out there that I can tap into to get this corrected.
Before updating my eMac, I transferred my photo library (stored in Photos) to a WD passport.
As I was trying to transfer the files back into the new iMac, there is a large quantity of them that are rejected, message indicated "unrecognizable format or the file may not contain valid data". Could be because they were shot in raw. The file names are all the same sequence of DSC_XXX.jpg. only the numbers (XXX) change. I can open them with preview from the thumbnail stored on the external HD, but the show up blank under import photo review.
I need to upgrade to a storage/editor a bit more professional than Photos, would Photoshop Elements be my next step?
Thanks for your input.

Thanks for all the suggestions, will try again at 300 dpi and no ice. I have a slide viewer and am selecting the ones to keep. Don’t need highest resolution as these slides will be burned as a slide show on dvd’s For the kids
Thanks again

Probably at highest resolution, if set at 300 dpi, normally how long should it take?

I am guilty of buying equipment for projects that will someday start. I have a V600 Epson scanner and noticed by the posts that it is very popular. I've used it right out of the box about a 18 months ago, scanned about 30 slides and have not touched it since.
I have a lot of slides to scan, when my kids were kids I shot mostly Ektachrome and Kodachrome.
This first experience with the scanner was slow and I wonder if I was doing the process incorrectly.
I've developed an allergy to reading manuals and was hoping someone would donate a few minutes to summarize the process. All I want to do is scan 35mm slides, from the V600 to my iMac.
I surely would appreciate it.

I've done that treck years ago, we arrived by train from Cuzco the day before and took the first bus available from Aguas Caliente, which leaves around 6-7am. You'll get there first and can take pictures without having to worry about the crowds that will fill the place up after 10-11 am. Although I am aware that in order to preserve the site, there was talk of limiting the number of daily visitors.
At that height the bird you'll see is the Condor, but these are scarce andI don't recall seeing any others. You should spot llamas grazing on the site.
About your choice of lenses, it seems appropriate, the 28mm wide angle will be enough, specially if you get on top of the Inca Trail, you'll get some wonderfull panoramic views.
Enjoy your trip, I have great memories from our visit.

Leaving for Russia in a couple of days, went through the same thought process and ended up deciding to take the two cameras, the D500 with a 10/20 and the 16/85 plus the Hasselblad Stella (an RX10-II based point and shoot).
On a previous cruise I only had the Stella, took great pictures but felt I was lacking the flexibility that a wider lens gives.
The little camera performed beautifully at night, the setting for night scenes allowed for great handheld long exposure shots. Will see how it goes with the D500 on it’s maiden voyage
