So I entered into the mirrorless world with the Z9 and my question is for anyone who used the f-mount lens with the adapter on the Z camera. Is there really a difference that's worth selling my F mount 70-200 2.8 and 105 1.4 e to get Z mount glass.

On my Z9 the two lenses I used before buying Z lens. (AF-S 24-70 1:2.8E ED and AF-S 70-200mm 1:2.8E FL ED) The Z lenses I now have are 24-70/2.8 S, 70-200/2.8 S and 100-400/4.5-5.6 S. As far quality I have seen no difference but I never shot the same scene with both lenses. I shoot sports and as far as focus speed I didn't notice any difference. But as I was writing this I tested and noticed the Z lens were quite with no sound and the F lens there was a slight sound and made me feel like it was a bit slower. The focus speed was at the time was fastest enough for me. I recommend you rent Z 70-200 and see if the difference is worth it. The reason I went and bought the Z lens was because changing lens was a pain. I bought a second Z9 so I could have the 24-70 on one camera and 70-200 or the 100-400 on the other. I don't like changing lenses out doors with taking a chance of getting dirt on the sensor or mounting ring.

You should see what a set of ink carts cost for a Canon Pro 1000.

It cost me about $700 for a set of cartridges for my Canon Pro 1000. And I discovered that the printer use ink weather you are printing or not. I guess it's the way it keeps it self clean. I took a picture of the ink levels and maintenance cartridge before left on vacation. The maintenance cartridge went from 20% to 40% full.

Thank you!
I like to shoot pano's it gives more detail. You can always get rid of the details but recreating it is not all that easy. I shot this picture yesterday with my Z9 and a 24-70mm lens. I could have shot at 24mm and had the pano with 3 pictures but I shot it at 70mm holding the camera vertically shooting 8 frames with 30% overlap. Then Adobe Photoshop did the rest. I buy Nikons best equipment available so then I can only blame myself for not getting the picture. I zoomed in and copy the person standing there and expanded the image so you could a feel for what I am talking about. The face is less than an inch out of 101 inch pano. Unfortunately I am not able to upload the entire image I keep getting an error when trying to upload the entire pano. Also I was focused on the mountains not the people. Another update is the picture here is JPEG an saved it a 0 in Photoshop and still fairly good results. I own 4 Nikon cameras and the minimum I take out to shoot is 2 cameras.

Have 4 working, NIKON D6, Z8 and (2) Z9s. I kept the D6 for its very low light abilities and lens I have collected thru the years. I have tested the D6 against the Z9 in very low light and the D6 has less noise than the Z9. You may ask why 2 Z9s and a Z8 it's because I shoot a sports, stills and video at the same time. Years ago I machined up an attachment that would hold the camera and video camera side by side on my tripod now the 2 Z9 sit side by side. I use a Nikon WR-T10 Remote Controller to fire stills while I am videoing the action. Also I mounted a reflex gun sight on the camera I am takin video. With a reflex sight you can aim with both eyes open, making it easy to see the entire field of view. The Z8 is my walk around camera. You may ask why dont I just take one of the Z9s the problem is it takes about 10 minutes to align the cameras and sight up. Wish I was home I would take a picture of the setup. Currently in Yosemite taking pictures of my grandkids and everything else. If people are still posting to JUST ONE CAMERA I will try to remember to take a picture of my setup.

I would go with a tilt and shift lens. You would get instance results. Sure you can make the adjustments in PHOTOSHOP or LIGHTROOM. But is hard to beat real time results.

Yes I hope. My Z8 did not show up in time to take to Machupicchu. I hope the lens shows up before next Friday. I leave for Yosemite.

I have a Z8 still in the box along with the battery pack and 3 batteries. The battery pack didn't show up before I left for Peru. I bought the Z8 thinking it would much lighter than my Z9 but without the battery pack I worried about battery life. The Z8 showed up the day before I was leaving for Peru and had no time to test battery life.

I spent the last two (2) days setting up a new camera and would like to record all the settings so that if I ever have to do it again, I will have a record of how I set the camera up for my style of photography. I would think that the camera manufacturers would have a way of printing these settings out, so I don't need to recreate the wheel again.
Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Bill

With my NIKON cameras I save the setting to the memory card. Then I take the memory card and download to my computer.

We should have a thread for pictures of the new Z8.

Was at Tempe Camera at 10:00am today 25. Was told that the camera has not arived yet and they will call as soon as it arrives. I am leaving next friday for Macho Pico Peru and hoping to have the Z8 before I leave. I own the Z9 but hopping the lighter Z8 will allowed me more time in the field taking pictures. Have a second Z9 but never took it out of the box. Ordered the second Z9 and before it arrived I slipped and fell and injured my shoulder and unable to hold the camera up very long. Jerry I will be taking pictures with both the Z9 and Z8 so I will be able to see if there is any difference in quality.

By whom?

My mistake I should have typed "tomorrow" instead of "today".
I received an email from NPS stating that I could pick my Z8 sometime between May 25-30. I called
Tempe Camera yesterday the 24 and David said I could pickup the camera on the 25 which is today.
They open at 10:00 and I will be there waiting for the doors to open.

Nice! As much as I'd like one, spending $4,000 on a camera has been impossible for me to justify - so far.

The specs and the reviews are fantastic, but do I have any need at all for that camera? I'm still working on that.

Of course, if I sold my other cameras, that would soften the blow financially. I have a lot of bottles to return, too.

The Z8 is the D850 and the D6 with much more punch. My reading of the tech specs is that the Z8 is a light weight Z9. I injured my right shoulder and hoping the lighter Z8 would allow me to take a few more pictures when out shooting.
