Yes, but different algorithms are being used by China.

Ours can be heavily influenced...theirs much less so.

They control theirs...ours is not...on purpose.

That makes sense. I have seen two things show up on my Tic Tok which I don’t think should be there based on my interests. One is a bunch of anti Christianity videos. The other is a heavy dose of “climate change is a hoax” type videos. I feel like these are only showing up as Chinese propaganda.

Interesting factoid.

TikTok in the US is very different from the TikTok in China.

In China the entire emphasis is on science and education and patriotism...
No one in the US would recognize their version as the same platform.

We devalue...ourselves.

The algorithm in Tik Tok customizes your feed based on your own interest. So my feed is music, photography, science and politics. My teenage son’s Tik Tok looks completely different.

There are some good photography videos on Tik Tok. The nice thing about Tik Tok vs YouTube is the video length limit. It forces the content creator to be more to the point. I have seen too many 20 minute YouTube videos with only 30 seconds of good information or no good information at all.

Hopefully these findings are more accurate than those reported by the University of Utah and by Georgia Tech in 1989!

This was my first thought when I read about this “new breakthrough”

You, Sir, are correct. I'm sorry I read only the caption. Had it said "People at a Balloon Rally," I could have skipped it.

But instead, you decided to take extra time to negatively comment twice. Smh

It’s a great time to be a thief in many parts of the US. For many reasons, it is a crime rarely prosecuted. My wife and I had $2,600 stolen from us last year. We knew who took it and had enough evidence for the police to issue a warrant for his arrest. However, the police told us that he would not be arrested because they were too short handed and didn’t have the time to arrest in these cases, even though it was grand larceny. The police said that the only way he would be arrested would be if he got pulled over for a traffic stop or got in trouble for some other reason with the police present and they noticed he had an outstanding warrant. That was very frustrating to hear. Fortunately, the cop doing the investigation did not share this information with the thief and was able to scare him enough through phone conversations so that the thief agreed to return our money. It still took a month to get our money back. But it was quite an eye opener as to what a thief could get away with even if caught red handed.

If you photograph people, then you might want to try Photo AI because it has a face recognition module in it that isn't in the others to my knowledge. I don't do people so I've never looked for it in their other apps.

I think the face recognition is the biggest improvement made in A1. Gigapixel can really distort faces and that seems to be corrected when upscaling in A1.

5??? Is your Sony eating them or do you shoot 24/7?

It eats them. Especially in video mode. I have never needed all 5. But I will go through 3 in a normal outing.

So---are you also driving electric?

I just bought a truck with the biggest gas engine I could get 😀. Battery technology is not there yet. My Sony A7II and the 5 batteries I carry with it is proof of that.

I agree and would add that serious photographers look for a complete photographic system of camera, lenses, and accessories that can meet their demanding needs.

You are speaking about how they compare today, and this is true. But will it still be this way in 2025?

Exciting times. Let’s hope he is right. I guess it is scary for traditional camera manufacturers.

Very nice. I have the same photo as your first pic with them coming from the opposite direction. I took it three weeks ago in Virginia Beach. Always a fun event with the camera.

I have been able to transfer my old NIK software to two new Macs as I have upgraded over the last few years. I don’t recall doing anything special other than transferring files.

The end of the alphabet is much cooler than the beginning. So I would have to go Z9. And A1 just sounds boring.
