It looks like Tik Tok will be getting the boot from the government devices, although that ban has already been in effect at many government agencies. I've never looked at Tik Tok. I have enough to waste my time without looking for more.
Speaking of wasting time, has click bait become more common online? Most online screens are filled with headlines that are trying to get me to click. Resistance is not futile.
I won't touch Tik Tok.
No need or desire.
I've never even been on Facebook.

Now that I do, for keeping in contact with family, friends, and a few organizations.

I was completely uninterested in Facebook (and other social media, being an antisocial geek). However, I had a business. The business had a website. I used it to promulgate information about the business and it sort of worked.
I hired local High School kids for field workers. One of them started a Facebook page for the business. He did a good job with it so I let him alone. But he got too old for High School and moved on to College (away). So I had to become an admin on the Facebook page. To do that I had to have a personal FB account. So now I'm on FB.
I got old too, and passed the farm to a couple young kids, 50 years younger than I, so they now run the FB page.
I found that the customers responded to FB posts, more than the website. There is a basic difference, and I think both media are important to a business.
The website gets updated occasionally, but not necessarily daily. It contains constant information about the business: Operating Hours, Products, Seasonal Stuff.
The Facebook gets updated in real time and presents information that is important NOW. The Facebook posts have a half-life of hours, since the posts get superseded by posts from customers and others.
If it were a restaurant, the website would be the sign on the building and the Facebook would be the daily menu.
They both have their place.
Since I'm not on the farm, I kind of ignore FB now although sometimes I get messages from friends. I depend on email more.

There are some good photography videos on Tik Tok. The nice thing about Tik Tok vs YouTube is the video length limit. It forces the content creator to be more to the point. I have seen too many 20 minute YouTube videos with only 30 seconds of good information or no good information at all.

If Tik Tok & Twitter disappeared today I would not lose one sec sleep

Although there are similarities, there are also differences, like rules and owners.
Interesting factoid.
TikTok in the US is very different from the TikTok in China.
In China the entire emphasis is on science and education and patriotism...
No one in the US would recognize their version as the same platform.
We devalue...ourselves.
I dumped FB in about 6 months after getting a birthday greeting from a near total stranger. Twitter I couldn’t understand and will never join TikTok, I just don’t get the point of it.

I don’t have a Tik Tok account, but I do watch it occasionally. Some of the videos are freaking hilarious, others heart-warming. It’s a la cart enjoyment vs the mine field that is Facebook.
To each their own!
