If those shots are through a window, you are a fabulous photographer!
All 3 shots are through a "clean" window. I'd have so much camera shake if I had to be outside in the cold so I really don't have a choice. What really helps is I use my tripod, back button focus, and then have my wired remote in my other hand. Seems to work for me. I just wasn't sure if an extender would be of benefit. Thanks!

I purchased the Canon 100-400 L II IS USM lens, which I absolutely love (photos below). I own a Canon Rebel T6s. Would it be worth it for me to purchase some extenders for further reach? If so, is there a certain brand you recommend that will work with my camera and this lens? I live out in the country and basically shoot wildlife and birds with this lens. Sad part, it is cold with winter upon us in NW Wisconsin and all my shots during this time of year are through a window. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just got an ad for a "closeout" price, $9.95, for the Hallmark standard greeting card program. Also offered is the deluxe version for $19.95 which includes more format choices plus a photo editor. Both are offered as a DVD purchase. Anyone used this program or a competitor version? Greeting cards have gotten expensive (so has everything else these days) that it appears to be a cost effective solution. I am not interested in the photo editor as I have PS Elements. Opinions/experience would be appreciated.

I have "many" deluxe versions of Hallmark and use it all the time. I love the program. I haven't purchased a card in over 16 years. I use it to address all my envelopes, make calendars, and all my mailing labels. The program is very versatile. I would go with the Deluxe version as you have more options. That's a pretty decent price as normally they run $49.99. I haven't upgraded mine since 2014 as they don't change all that much from year to year.

I'd say go for it -- you won't be disappointed. Photo Editor only does the basics as far as cropping, brightening, auto fix, opacity, red eye, contrast, clone, flip, rotate, gray scale, blur and some other minute changes. You can select cards and sayings like in a store or you can create your own. Here are some of the categories on things you can make in the program (see attached photo).

Some friends of ours live on a lake. We stopped for a visit 3 days ago. While sitting on some lawn chairs looking out in the water, there were a couple loons swimming. Our friends took us out on their pontoon so I could get closer. I had just purchased a new Canon 100-400L IS II USM lens so thought this would be a great time to try it. Very happy with my results!!! I think I was within 30 feet. I did crop these photos somewhat. Have had my Canon Rebel T6s for a year and a half.

I sign up for a 30 day FREE trail of a skin care product.
I called their Customer Service and asked them what happens at the end of 30 days. They said I would continue to receive a monthly supply for a low cost of $97.00 per month.
Such a great deal that I canceled my account.
I should know better I had been bitten in the past.
So beware.

Happened to me too - probably the SAME skin care product. I read the "fine print" after I ordered it, but was able to cancel it.

After reading all the posts from my last conversation about keeping/selling my lenses, my final decision was to get rid of my 55-250 which I never use. I decided to keep all my prime lenses. I am more than likely going to sell my Tamron 70-300 as well. I decided to buy some "good glass" and opted for the 100-400L IS II USM Canon lens. I purchased it through Canon and is a refurbished lens for about $300 cheaper than the going price. It arrived yesterday and though I'm just learning, having had my Canon Rebel T6s for just over a year, this lens was worth every penny. I took the camera down to our pond yesterday and got these wonderful shots immediately. No post editing at all except to crop. I did not go by the Rule of 3rds because I really wanted to see the detail that this lens can make on a shot. And ALL handheld. I just want to thank each of you for all your comments and suggestions.

Stenojj, here's my lens setup with my T6i:

Canon 18-55 3.5-5.6 STM kit lens
Tamron 70-300 4-5.6 Di LD Tele-Macro
Canon 24 mm 2.8 STM
Canon 50 mm 1.8 STM

It's amazing how similar our arsenals are. I am selling my 55-250 for sure. That is one I "never" use. I really would like to hang onto my 85 mm. I will sell my Tamron 70-300 once my Canon 100-400 gets here this week. The other primes I will keep. I also like my 18-135 so will hang onto that one.

I have a video on how to use the T6s. I will have to rewatch to see how I can tweak the settings. Not familiar with that.

Thanks!

I would upgrade to a better camera body - say a 6D. It doesn't cost a lot for a full framer - comparatively speaking - and all of your lenses will work flawlessly.

The 6D has a 20.2 MP sensor where my T6s has a 24.2 sensor. Is that a huge difference to have a full frame?

Actually I believe this is backwards. Adobe RGB should be _MG and sRGB should be IMG.

Also keep in mind that if you shoot in Auto (Basic) mode the file will be IMG regardless of the color space that you have set for the camera. If you have Adobe RGB set and shoot in Program mode the file will be _IMG. Change the dial to Auto and the file will be IMG. The attached snip show two files shot right after each other. The first is in Program and the second is in Auto mode. Both were shot in RAW format.

My color space is set to ADOBE RGB.

I just took two photos with my camera. When choosing sRGB the "I" in IMG was replaced with an underscore _MG_4438. When taking a photo with Adobe RGB, the "I" returned and reads IMG_4439

You have lots of lenses, but do you take pictures with them. There is no way you can use them all except brag to everyone how many lenses you have. That does not make you a photographer.

I am not really bragging about how many lenses I have. My goal is to eliminate the ones I don't use very often. That being said, I have used them all experimenting which one does the best for the situation at hand. Most of the lenses I have, except for the 85 mm and the 70-300, were all purchased at reasonable prices. I am seeing improvement each day with photos I take. I know I have a long way to go in learning my camera. I am planning on taking another online course as there aren't any photography classes offered in my area.

How do you like your Tamron?

I like the Tamron for the zoom range, although at 300 it can be a little soft depending on conditions. Here is one I took at the full 300 though with that lens.

When I purchased my first DSLR last March (Rebel T6s), every time I saw an awesome photo posted I "had to have" that lens in my arsenal. Now that I've had my camera for awhile, I find I rarely use some of those lenses. My question is, what would I be safe to hang on to and what should I try and sell? As I live in the country, I take mostly birds, flowers, and my cats. Very rare do I take photos of people although once in a while will take some family photos when they come to visit. I would really like to invest in better glass than a new camera. Thanks in advance for any advice. It's all so new to me.

Canon 18-135 3.5-5.6 IS STM kit lens (which I really like)
Tamron 70-300 VC USD 4.0-5.6
Canon 55-250 4.0-5.6 STM
Canon 24 mm 2.8 STM
Canon 50 mm 1.8 STM
Canon 85 mm 1.8 STM

(I just ordered the 100-400 "L" IS II USM)

Is the first character missing or has it changed to an underscore? If your color space is sRGB the default is IMG and if Adobe RGB the first character is changed to an underscore. Just a thought as I am not familiar with the 80D.

Interesting concept. My "i" was replaced with an underscore as well. So, is it best to have the camera set to sRGB or the Adobe RGB? I have a Rebel T6s.
