When Shooting Sunrise/Sunset Photos my sun always comes out white not red.
Do I need a filter, or ????

All you need is air so polluted by the smoke of numerous fires that your eyes burn and your nose runs, then you can look directly at the sun and take the time to compose the shot. No filter needed, but a mask will help with camera shake and other breathing requirements.

I am primarily a wildlife photographer, bird, bugs, flowers. The birds will not let you get close enough even with my 200-500 mm lens. I, of course resort to cropping to get the good part of the capture. When I used my 21 megapixel sensor I was more limited than I am now with my 36 megapixel sensor. My question is, how many megapixels are necessary to get an aesthetically pleasing print in say an 8x10 or 11x14. I am attaching 2 photos that show how much I actually crop. 8122 347kb from 20763 kb 7382 182 kb from 24432, and of course the other age old question would I get better quality if I shot raw rather than jpeg which would roughly double the size of the captured photo. Thanks for your input

If fine detail from a big crop is what you want then more MP. 5Dsr

I can not get this from my 7D

I made the switch without flushing. No problems. Have used PC inks for 3 years.

Thank you Bsteiner just what I was hoping to hear.

It has taken me about 2 years to use my 4oz bottles, in that time they have changed formulation to their new Signature Edition. My basic question is can I just refill my cartridges with the new inks or do I need to flush them. I have watched the "print man" video's where he recommends buying new cartridges as he did with the yellow (when changing from OEM to PC), with the alternative being flushing with ammonia. Has anybody made this change? Any problems?

I am tiling my fireplace so I may not respond right away, thank you.

I have a wildgame cook book if you need a recipe - or go fancy: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/25843/hasenpfeffer-rabbit-stew/

O .... I like fancy, They eat the Artichokes, I eat the rabbit, should taste like artichoke right? They have nibbled on the tomatoes so if I can get one eating the jalapenos it should taste like salsa. Rabbit with a kick. Oh I like where this is going..... In good taste I will wait for a Rabbit with good taste.

Get an outdoor dog that is a light sleeper.

Just wondering where the Hawks, Owls and Coyotes are when you need them. Or.....maybe embrace the idea of rabbit stew. Thanks for commenting Robert.

Joer posted a very good picture of a rabbit this morning under the title "Wabbit" and not wanting to hijack his thread I thought I might share this...

Two days ago they appeared in my back yard, three little rabbits. Thinking they were very cute I grabbed the camera and gave chase. They scooted into the garden and started munching on my Artichokes and Asparagus. Fearing my tomatoes, kale and peppers would be next, I chased them out. Thus started the "Rabbit wars". Day three and I am loosing and they are looking well feed.

Know the spot well I was thinking of trying op on the Mountan but just had back surgery today so not going anyplace soon I did get some shots from Homeland last night before my surgery ( went good BTW) so I’d like to meet up with you some time I’m at the airport most days and belong to Cypress soaring and Hemet Model Masters I know too many hobbies😜

Got my PL in a 150 , bought a taildrager from a cattle rancher and the day I was to pick it up and fly it home he hit a bull on take off, that's my Cessna background. Been thinking seriously about a hot air balloon shoot maybe this fall. I was surprised by the quality of dark sky up 74, thinking about shooting the Milky Way over lake Hemet. Back surgery sounds serious when will you be up and about? There is an other hog member in Hemet, that meet up did not work out.

On the road to Idyllwild bellow Mountain Center, Fly cessna . If you go that way you will see turnouts on the left. One large turnout near the top will have lots of cars and people and just bellow it is another turnout with nobody.

I know posting this late from the best coast,,,,very few will see this post. Those that do should know its a composite. The city was taken with a 50 mm 1.8 and the comet itself was captured with a 400 mm 5.6 Exposure on both 3 sec.

[quote=neillaubenthal]Back in my days in Uncle Sam’s Canoe Club...there was an official Navy publication named the DicS

Three dits four dits two dits dah U S Navy raw raw raw.... Uncle Sams Canoe Club 200 years of tradition unhampered by progress. As a blue water, blue nose, shellback from the way back I had more salt on my tail than time in jail (the GFL) 69-73 . Those were the days.....do you miss then now? Hated them then.

Here on the West coast the comet becomes visible just after 9 pm, directly below the Big Dipper. To see the comet with the naked eye you need a dark sky. I am using my 5Dsr with either the 50 1.8 or my 100-400. The 50 renders the scene better, but at 400 for 3 sec the tail details are very nice.
