What a class act! I've seen that whole concert and it's magical. Here's a great performance that doesn't require 20 wildly gyrating dancers grabbing their crotches, light shows, smoke machines or lewd costumes to sell the product; just great singing and great music from a talented performer. Oh and notice there aren't hundreds of audience members holding up their smart phones blocking everyone's view (yeah, yeah I know; it's pre-phone days). Also interesting to see how respectful the audience is, at a free concert in the heart of New York City.

Critical thinking, that is, the compilation and verification of facts and assembling them into an undeniable truth takes time and effort. Blindly accepting someone's statement as fact, takes none. There are a lot of lazy people out there.

I just read an article about Temu. Because their business model is to have millions of items shipped individually and direct from the (Chinese of foreign) manufacturer to the consumer, they get around US customs and tariff laws that only apply to larger shipments. They apparently have a far more lax manufacturer vetting process than Amazon and their customer service is largely nonexistent not even allowing returns. As you would expect, you get what you pay for, with TEMU which is not to say you can't get a quality item for a bargain but it's not very likely.

Well done; I especially like the first one. I always thought the Challenger was a better looking car than the Charger but it alway seemed like the Charger got all the attention.

So older people tend to be hated?

Don't forget Millenials and Gen Zers view Boomers as a bunch of self centered, greedy old farts. To them, Boomers are the generation that's leaving them a ruined planet and an uncontrollable national debt, who refuse to sell their houses so they can afford one and who still hold all the better paying jobs because they won't retire and get out of the way. Yeah, I think it's only a matter of time before they become vigilantes and start clearing the "dead wood" out of society! Hmmmm...maybe they're right.

You might think that I'm anti-Boeing, but I'm not. Boeing has been getting lots of negative press for years, and for good reason. One of the YouTube channels I watch regularly is Maximus Aviation. Last night, I watched one of his videos that gave a very good summary of Boeing from its heyday as "King of the World" to a company that can't be trusted. Below is a link to a very good summary of Boeing from then to now.

Admittedly "can't be trusted" is a bit of a generalization but the evidence is there to support it in this video as well as news reports, FAA reports, GAO reports, etc. The 737 Max is a good example of Boeing shifting from good engineering, to profit-based decision making. The FAA is partly to blame for allowing Boeing to self-certify although I wouldn't be surprised if the FAA lacks personnel and resources to properly inspect all phases of plane construction. Once again though, it shows how businesses cannot be trusted to "self regulate" when it comes to safety, quality control and environmental regulations. Without getting too political, it shows we need a third party (FAA, EPA, OSHA, etc.) to protect us.

Very interesting! Of course now my wife wants to know why I'm taking my stopwatch into the bathroom.

Hey we’re interested too; let us know how you do. Not fair if you try to impress us by drinking 3 or 4 beers before you hit the bathroom and run the timed test.

Perhaps a case of TMI but I take longer...now. The bladder is a muscle that weakens with age so I have less pressure and distance than in my youth. I'm not even sure if I could write my name on the side of a building any more!

Great shot of a beautiful car. Interesting to compare this 1936 car to the 1932 Buick posted a little earlier. That car had the old, boxy "Model T" look while only 4 years later, cars like this had smooth, flowing lines. Most likely because of airplanes, specifically the DC-3 made air travel safe and affordable for so many people. Suddenly everything from toasters to cars sported aerodynamic "look of the future" lines the way planes did.

Front porches are likely a throwback to pre-industrial times when home owners would sit on their front porches to greet and talk to their neighbors who were out for a stroll. Now-a-days you sit on a front porch and what do you see? Noisy cars and trucks passing by.

I wonder how many house features are the same. Window shutters, for example, have absolutely no function other than possibly aesthetics yet at one time they served a valuable function.

In our quest to create new sub-species we've developed lots of pedigree dogs that suffer because of our efforts. Dachounds (sp?), for example, suffer spine problems from their elongated backs. Greyhounds have high rates of broken leg and hip problems. Breeds like pugs, bulldogs, etc. that have pushed in faces suffer from sinus and breathing problems among others. I'd bet these physical problems lead to average earlier deaths.

Same problem here in my town. I live on a road dating back to the 1800's that no doubt started out as a horse trail and was expanded into a dirt road. Somewhere in the mid-1900's it was first paved with asphalt simply laid down over the dirt road without the benefit of proper drainage and compacted base layers. I don't know how many layers were added since the first but here have been 2 more layers added since I moved here in 1991. Each new layer lasts only a few years before starting to break up. I used to drive slightly down onto the road surface from the end of my driveway, now I drive up onto the road surface.

You need to try "Tillamook" Ice cream from Oregon. Best ever.

Agreed 100%! Tillamook is sold here in New Hampshire and it's only a buck more a half gallon than Breyers or Friendly's. All ice cream seems expensive now-a-days but it's a treat and I only eat a small scoop at any one time to make the half gallon last longer.

BTW before you buy any ice cream, check its ingredients. If the first three are something like "milk and non-fat milk solids, corn syrup..." stay away from it. Even "premium" ice creams like Breyers have cheaped out this way and I don't know how the FDA allows them to label it "ice cream." Tillamok's first three ingredients are "Milk, Cream, Sugar."

Although Apple's APP store has several QR reader apps, my old iPhone 7 and my newer iPhone 12 both have a scanner built into the Camera app. At first, I thought I had to actually take a photo of the QR code but then I realized I simply needed to hover my Camera over the QR code and the link would appear on the screen.

I've yet to see if it works on a QR code displayed on a TV screen. Usually the advertisement will flash a code for about 12 seconds telling me to "scan the QR code for more information." Yeah, right. I'd have to be standing two feet away with from the TV screen, phone in hand and Camera app running to do that in the time allowed.
