Goodbye, Stewart's

I was glad to see that Stewart's has all of its ice cream on sale this week, including my favorite - Mounds of Coconut. Unfortunately, they have raised the price again. It was $3.99 last week, but it's $4.16 or 2/$8.00 this week. Not only that, but my favorite flavor isn't available. They posted it as one of their flavors, but it's a "Special," rarely available. With that increase, Stewart's price has risen higher than what the supermarket charges, and all of their flavors are always that price. Goodbye, Stewart's!

Just saw Blue Bell, the Texas standard, at $8.99 a gallon. I think I'll pass on that till the craving gets to great.

If you like rich, creamy vanilla Ice Cream, Costco has it ... box comes with two separate 1.89-liter cartons of ice cream and costs $14.99 ...a tad less than Blue Bell.
(Note: I think "pdsdville" meant Blue Bell at $8.99 for 1/2 Gallon).

If that for a whole gallon, that's pretty good. Stores now sell half gallon and three-pint packages.

$8.99 for a half gallon is a bit more than I would pay.

Costco is a two-hour round-trip drive for me.

Inflation makes everything expensive but I wouldn't worry about the cost of ice cream. If I eat all the ice cream I want I would die before I run out of money.

You need to try "Tillamook" Ice cream from Oregon. Best ever.

I whole heartedly agree. They are one of the best Ice Cream brands available.
Check them out at Tillamook. They have quite an assortment of flavors.
I don't know if they are available nationwide but they are worth looking for.

I particularly like these two. Banana Split & Peaches & Cream.

I used to think that everything was cheaper in the US but not ice-cream after reading this. A 1/2 gallon at USD 8.99=NZD 14.65 and from Costco 2 (slightly less than 2l cartons) for USD14.99=NZD24.43 (or NZD12.21 per carton) are both so much more than our ice-cream. Our favorite is Deep South and 2l costs NZD8.23 or USD5.05.
Good to see at least one thing is cheaper here.

I've been eating Tillamook for a while now since the local grocery store carries it. My favorite, however, is direct from a dairy run by a friend of mine. But it's a 3 hour round trip so I don't get it very often. And of course my doctor recommends I limit ingestion to something like a gallon a year. My capability (and desire) is 50 times that.

Quality ice cream is worth the cost.

I don't get it Jerry - if you think $8.99 /gal for Bluebell is a "pretty good" price - why are you complaining about $8.38/gal for Stewarts? (or $8/gal when it is on sale this week).
I love Stewarts for their milk, ice cream and eggs (all LOCAL) and will never stop going there.

Opt for the short, but very happy life.

If it's a gallon, that's $4.50 for a half gallon, "pretty good." Stewart's on sale is now $4.16 for a half gallon, but I have no idea what their regular price is. $8.99 for a half gallon sounded ridiculous, but half that price is reasonable. I don't recall seeing ice cream for sale by the gallon.

For decades, ice cream was sold in half gallon packages. A few years ago, most companies switched to three pints, although some companies still sell a full half gallon.

Stewart's milk also costs quite a bit more. Even with their "Milk Club," you wind up paying more, despite one free gallon after you buy twenty.
