Welcome to the forum. Looking forward to see some of your work.
I have the D5500 and are using bbf and have same issue. I noticed it happens when I take a picture and the picture is still showing on the screen for review. When I press the shutter halfway the preview image goes away and I can then use the bbf.
Welcome to the forum Tina.
Hello Mike and welcome from South Carolina.
I have the D5500 and find the battery life good. The screen seems to be bright enough, although in direct sunlight I sometimes have to shade with my hand slightly.
Welcome to the forum, Lisa.
Much advice can be had here, as well as stories to share.
I have the 5500. I bought it specifically for the articulating screen. It works great at grandkids birthday parties. I have also used the wifi to remotely trigger the camera. Works great for family photos with a tripod.

Hi Russell. I use a Tamron 2x with my Nikon 55-300. It works ok, but I find most of the time I have to use manual focus.
Great shots. I like the double bolts in number 1. I like the color of the bolts in #2. Was there a setting you changed or just timing?
Thanks for sharing!
I do like the wifi on the D5500. I can set it up and take pictures from my smart phone. Good for family pictures, no need to set timer and run to get into picture. You can see the shot before you take it.
I own a D5500, it came with 2 lenses an 18-55 and a 55-300, case, 2 batteries and a 16 Gb SD card. (Purchased from Costco ) I have since bought an 18-105 which I use most of the time. I think it takes great pictures. I specifically chose the D5500 over the D7200 for the flip out screen that can be angled for viewing. That was just my preference for the choice.
I have the 55-300 f4.5-5.6 VR ED kit lens that came with my D5500. I like the quality of the lens and the pixs. I also have a Tamron 2x converter I use for the extra reach.
