My name is Linda and I am a newcomer to this forum. I have taught myself to take some nice photos. I am always looking for information on how to improve. I hope that you veteran photographers will help me out. I love photography but my father told me I wasn't smart enough to use a good camera, slr. After he died none of my sisters wanted his cameras so I got them. He had an old Nikon film slr camera that I started using and have gotten some darn good photos. I am not up to par with most of you but I do expect to learn to take better photos.

Welcome. Never let someone tell you that you are not smart enough to do anything, even family. If you have the urge to learn and will allow yourself to learn from you mistakes, you can accomplish anything. Good luck with your photography.
Hello, I am Linda. I joined hoping that you all can help me become a better photographer. I am self taught so I know I have a lot to learn. I tried to send a post a few minutes ago but it didn't seem to go so I am trying again.
Oops now I see that I have posted twice when I meant to only post once. I am sorry about that.

Welcome to the Hog Linda. You will find many helpful people here to help you on your photographic journey, take the malcontents with a grain of salt and you will be fine, we all have things to learn.
Welcome Linda. You can learn a lot using Google, Youtube and the Search feature at the top of the page on this website. Enjoy yourself, and learn at your own pace.

Linda, welcome to UHHs. Just to let you know, I'm not sure sticking your tongue at us other photographers is allowed and I am not sure about the rules as to selfies. Just kidding! It's a very funny shot. Just make sure the park ranger doesn't see you using the noisy neighbor's kid as trap bait - they tend to frown on that.
Welcome aboard. Although I did not know him, your father must have had issues; telling his daughter she's not smart enough to use a good camera is just wrong in so many ways. I have 3 daughters and I'd be thrilled if they would show interest in photography beyond their cell phones. There's nothing wrong with self taught either, just be sure to get a few good books, read them and practice, practice, practice...
