The Tokina 100mm is a great, very sharp, well built macro lens and its not expensive.

I have a D7200 and I use a Tamron 150-600 G2. Great sharp lens with great stabilization -VC. It also focuses close, just a little over 7 feet.
Here are 2 links to shots I took with this lens and camera. One at 600mm and one at 380mm

If you right click (or control-left click ) on the screen it give you different options to SORT BY - name, date, kind, etc...
Also by adding spaces before the tile of the icon, it will force the icon to be first ( ___MacHD ) you can add as many spaces as needed.

You can restore it to the previous firmware, by reinstalling the previous version, the same way as you install the new version, if it isn't working properly.

I would also look at the Nikon 70-200mm f4, It is a great lens, ultra sharp, small, light and roughly 1/2 the price.

Here are shots taken from a D7200 and the Tamron 100-400. Both are not cropped. I did use the Tap-In consol to make fine tune adjustments to the lens.
I also have the 150-600 g2 and have adjusted that too and I think the 150-600mm is sharper then 100-400.

Hand Held at roughly 20 feet at 400mm 1/1250 f11 ISO 400 with VC ON No Sharpenig only highlights and shadows adjusted in lightroom

On a tripod roughly 1000 feet at 400mm 1/100 f7.1 ISO 100 VC OFF no sharpening no adjustments

L is if the Lens update list and C is for the camera

You are right, but now we play the waiting game. I will have to take out my Sigma 150-600mm Sport lens and try it out on my cameras to see what effect this update had. Also worth mentioning is what can be done about other third party lenses that I have like Sigma 180mm macro, Sigma 150mm macro and Tamron 180mm macro that are not update-able through the hub. I guess that is the chance you take in buying 3rd party lenses. My Zeiss Milvas 85mm f1.4 is manual focus so I am hoping the rest of its electronics were not affected.

If it does't work, you can always load the previous firmware back.

Your shot looks beautiful!

DXO rates the Nikon Nikkor 24mm F/1.8 G the sharper of all the Nikon F1.8 wides.

The Tamron 150-600mm G2 . It's a great sharp lens, closest focusing distance in that class, arca mount built in to it's tripod collar and light for around $1400.

It sounds like the camera is refocusing when you hit the shutter button or sutter release.
I have a D7200 and a D750 and they both have slightly different setups.
If the D7100 is like the D7200 (I suspect it is) you need to do this:
C1(shutter -release button AE-L) set to Off
F4 (Assign AE-L/AF-L) AF-ON
Also remember to set your camera to Continuos focus mode.
The D750 does it all in one modification in the custom setup menu.
