Trying to place a family member behind his family.

In other words, a family asked for their son to be placed in their photo.
However, the son's photo lacks parts, thus I am wanting to place just his head and some of the shoulder behind the family.
How do I do this?

I've searched until I am blue in the face and cannot come up with a YouTube that show how to do this.
I'm sure I am not asking the search the right question.

Does anyone have a link they like that will do as I described....?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Stan, I see you're here too! I'm in Carrollwood Village. There seems to be only a few wading birds around this winter, so far.

Temple Terrace. Lettuce Lake has been real good lately.

Anyone out there own this relatively new lens? Interested in your observations.

It says it has Vibration Compensation but I don't see it. If I had it all to do over again I'd pass on this lens. Canon 7d Mark II.

16% increase in pregnant women using Marijuana, LOL, supposedly to relieve nausea, again, LOL....like alcohol it has major consequences for the baby and society. Besides, adding annother drug to the mix just makes sense, correct?

They should legalize pot and make alcohol illegal.

These are 3 from the last few days. The Blue-jay and Sunup are very recent photos. Developed Saturday AM. The Egret is a JPEG from Dad's archives that I polished up in LR

I've thrown away hundreds of "attempts" to catch the very shy and fast little bird. Finally, my efforts were rewards. Shot with a Nikon D810, 200-400mm lens with tc2.0 to get as much reach as possible. Camera on tripod with gimbal head. If you even point a camera at these guys they are gone laughing at you. This time I got lucky. Composition could be better-----but I got him!!

Please use the download.

Thanks for looking. This is my Christmas gift to me!!

That's a good one!

When I first got back into photography a year or so ago I had this naïve idea of being a purist. I would see wonderful photographs in magazines and think wow that photographer is amazing. Then I would read the fine print on the number one winner that month and see that he or she had used a stack of 20 photographs and post process them to death in Lightroom and Photoshop. Now I feel conflicted around how much to post process my photographs. Many on this forum make comments like “do not overcook” or “less is more”. To me this reflects personal taste not to mention a bit of photographic snobbery and should not be taken as a cardinal rule for all. Unless we are employed as a photographer by the local newspaper, are we not all artists with our own style. I don’t think any of us should feel guilty when we process a photograph that may not necessarily reflect reality but makes this world a more cheerful place.

Hey pp experts, I have a photo that has a white (cloudy) sky behind a complex structure of tree limbs with colorful leaves. I've looked at a dozen tutorials on changing sky color (to blue) but every one uses a mask from another photo employing erasing or painting to get around foreground objects. This, if not impossible, would take a year (for me) with this photo because of the complex tree structure with lots of sky showing through between leaves and limbs.

I would think there should be a way to isolate part of the photo to be changed and then just adjust/change one of the colors in that part; in this case the white sky to blue but I have not been able to find a tutorial that shows how to do that. I'm using Luminar, but even a photoshop tutorial may help as I may be able to translate the method to Luminar.

Thanks in advance for any helpful answers.

I know, that my question is not formulated correctly, because "different strokes for different folks".
I'm new to "real" editing and currently use Capture NX-D by Nikon, which was free of charge and I downloaded it from the Nikon site.
Before I get too familiar with NX-D, I'd like to here your take on editing software. I do look for something that is user friendly, even if it only available for a one time charge or a monthly user fee.
Thanks, Peter

I've given up on all those fancy do everything programs. I now use Windows Photo Gallery and Smart Photo Editor. Easy Peezy.
